Re: new Impression: Man of the Greyflood, c. SA 850

It’s such a two-dimensional way to look at cultures that, realistically, would make up the population of the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD outside the little corner of Middle-earth that we usually focus on. Such an English imperialistic perspective, TBH (which I suppose is only to be expected from someo...

Re: Rohirrim belt

This is amazing! As I am putting together my Rohirrim kit slowly but surely, I am a little jealous.

Re: Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

Taurinor, Since you are a medieval reenactor also, are you familiar with the event "Days of Knights"? Our group attends every year and it might be worth your time to check it out. It's the most authentic medieval living history reenactment event you're likely to find. Here are few pictures...

Re: Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

A medieval forest wasn't necessarily a woodland, and any woodland in the Middle Ages wasn't a forest. In post-1066 England, a royal forest was land set aside as hunting grounds for the monarch, and it could include grasslands, moors, wetlands, and woodlands. There would also be roads and towns with...

Re: Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

Probably not the right venue, but I'd be really interested in seeing what you've found, if you are willing or able to share. No worries! So basically it seems that Foresters were typically called upon as archers during time of war and also that they would arrive mounted. I'll try to dig up more inf...

Re: Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

I haven't done a ton more with my kit, but here is a small progress report. Still have to get a proper helmet for service to the Lord. I'm hoping to upgrade the tunic with something following the horse motifs following a more Anglo Saxon style. Eventually I am planning to invest in appropriate medie...

Re: Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

Very inspired by the group "Thegns of Mercia". I could really kill two birds with one stone, a legit Anglo Saxon impression as well as a Rohan impression.

I pulled these images and I quite imagine that this is how the everyday Eorlingas would look.

Re: Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

Excellent! Thanks for the advice! I’m planning to base it heavily on the anglo Saxons and the illustrations of Alan Lee as I think he remained faithful to history and Tolkien despite what ended up on the screen. Here’s some additional references. Trying to figure out how to include some horse mo...

Rider of Rohan (or Foot Soldier of Rohan)

I've recently had a notion to put together a Rohirrim kit based on my love for the Anglo-Saxon period of English History of which the Professor also took great inspiration for the whole of Middle-Earth. I've recently been reenacting 13th century English civilian and soldier during the Magna Carta ye...

New Beren and Luthien Book, has anyone read?

Hello all! Long time no see. I was just curious if anyone had purchased the newly published Beren and Luthien book? How is it? Did you like it?

I have been meaning to purchase a copy, but haven't made it to a bookstore yet.

Re: Mannish

Excellent! I think the accent concept is a good route to take as how many of us really have the time to learn an entirely new language. That being said though, there are certain words that could be useful to insert into your speech. Changing certain words you might usually say in favor of an older w...
