About 3 weeks ago in the PNW we had 18 inchs overnight. Two days later it was gone. Last week we had a record rain. Trees took out power lines. Three, count them THREE towns and hundreds of houses, mine included were without power for 12-18 hours. It was chilly. Didnt make the national news either. ...

BTW: If by "White Christmas" you mean we sit all day without power huddled around a small gas heater to stay warm, then I could do without another one.

Or you can coat a wool blanket with lanolin. The old wool cloaks were basicl raw wool that had never been processed so the natureal oils/lanolin were in them.

Actually, if your fire is big enuf to catch your tarp on fire, its to big. To obvious to the orcs and other baddies. You can have a fire close enuf to heat and dry you out without burning your tentage up. Try to make it a wrap around, like 3/4 of a circle with a fly overhang. The fire would be sligh...
