Re: Photo Contest Entry-Please read disclaimer at bottom of post

Did you know those people, or did you just traipse right on up and say "Hold off on the jumping, Ranger needs a photo op...making recruitment posters to set up in Bree..." The latter. ;) This was a popular hiking trail which led to a popular spot for jumping and swimming. There were at le...

Re: Ranger's Apprentice Style Saxe Knife and Throwing Knife

Thanks for the sheath pic. I actually just finished reading the eight Ranger's Apprentice book, and I was watching for double-knife details this time. At one point, one of the Rangers actually "unclips" his throwing knife scabbard from the arrangement on his waist (I don't quite remember w...

Re: The Sindarin Conversation Thread

My (probably incompetent) attempt: Im aphad yrch Ettenmoors annûn an Evendim emyn, forn Fornost, harad na annui falas Evendim ael. Yrch thia an Michel Delving. Literal: I follow orcs Ettenmoors west toward Evendim hill, north Fornost, south toward shore Evendim lake. Orcs appear toward Michel Delv...

Re: The Sindarin Conversation Thread

"A host of orcs' is what I intended, so that worked out well. A couple of pronounciation questions: What is the sound of the "ch" in "orch" and "yrch"? Is it "ch" as in "church" or possibly "ch" as in "Bach"? Also, could you...

Re: The Sindarin Conversation Thread

Glamhoth anglenna i Trann. O mas telir? I have decided to drop the black text idea, unless someone requests it. I noticed that although it hides the text on my mac, it's much more visible on other computers. Further, I question how much additional learning one would actually obtain from the opportu...

Thanks. Perhaps I'll try translating it when next I have a large chunk of free time, and then we can find out. ;)
