Wow, very tempting! I'm always nervous of seconds though.

Re: kit carrying options
This may be somewhat random, but has anyone here wondered at all why Strider carries his quiver slung over his left shoulder? He clearly shoots and fights right-handed, so this seems a bit strange.

Re: Pics from Scarby
Aw nuts! I'm definitely regretting not letting more folks know I was going. I don't know why, but I basically just completely forgot to advertise this fact to the general public. Every year some friends of mine from the Colorado Renaissance Festival make an excursion down to Scarborough, and this wa...

Re: Pics from Scarby
You make a great filthy pirate :) and of course love the Ranger/Woodsman persona, and better your boots fail at faire than in the woods! Thanks for the pics! Ken Quite true! This also forces me to actually do what I've been talking about for months and finally make a pair of my own from scratch. Th...

Pics from Scarby
Just got back from Scarborough Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie TX! It was my first time at this festival, and I had a great time, although I feel like I hardly saw it (the place is huge). On Saturday I went as my ranger/woodsman character, and on Sunday I was a filthy pirate gunner. My Saturday w...

Re: Dunedain Lembas Bread Experiment
I'm intrigued by a lot of your ingredients. There are definitely some things in there I'm going to have to try out. Overall, I think next time I do it I'm going to use my basic recipe with the addition of some cocoa powder or a little instant coffee, and also some almond flour/meal instead of (or pe...

New Bow from Gondian!
Hello again fellow rangers! A while ago (as I may have mentioned somewhere already, I can't recall) I ordered a longbow from our friend Gondian. After seeing Greg's stellar review of the bow he received from said gentleman, I was quite impressed, so I placed an order for my own, and waited in eager ...

Re: Vest, hood... what to do with a nice piece of oiled leat
I agree with Manveruon, mainly since I really don't see leather as being what anyone really used for a hood except in movies. It's hot and can be heavy.. you want protection and ability to blend in with your surroundings.. but you want a hood to be breathable. Yes, I know leather breaths.. but umm ...

Re: MRL Deal of the day
Aw dang! I just said how much I generally avoid leather hoods on another thread, but I do love the look of this one! Great movie too (despite what critics said). $55 is a great deal for it too, but sadly still too rich for my blood (especially since I just bought new linen and wool to make new summe...

Re: Udwin's old-timey kit
Just so you know- I'm totally using this as a basis for putting together my kit. Thanks. Indeed, I think I'm going to have to look closely at how this is put together when I finally start to get all my gear ready for a big expedition. Looks like a solid system. And I also second the idea that we ne...

Re: Vest, hood... what to do with a nice piece of oiled leat
If it were me, I'd probably go with the vest. I do love a nice leather jerkin/surcoat/thing. I've never been a huge fan of leather hoods.
