Re: Which tunic?

I admit I’m a bit perplexed. The garment pictured on the website is *definitely* longer - it even has an additional seam at what looks like mid-thigh. Either the picture is inaccurate, or this is a slightly different, longer version of the vest Ghostsoldier has.

Re: Inns of Middle Earth

OH WOOOOW WOW WOW WOW. Boy, I wish we had something like that out here in Colorado. We do have some enjoyably atmospheric pubs in the Denver area, but they’re all pretty deep in the city and nowhere near my usual hiking locales, unfortunately. The best one I’ve frequented is called Clancy’s Irish Pu...

Re: Morgul Blade.

Tolkien described the blade as sort of “melting” rather than shattering, so I always imagined it was some kind of enchantment designed to prevent the victim or their allies from retrieving the blade and somehow using it to develop an antidote or counter-spell.

Re: 2020 - Skill/Goal Recap and Looking Ahead

Hmmmm... okay... I usually don’t participate in these threads - for one, because I’ve bee entirely absent from the forums for a good couple years now, and for another because I often find them daunting. I rarely ever actually accomplish the goals I set out for myself at the beginning of the year, an...

Re: Brain Tan bag

OOOOOOOHHHH BOYOHBOYOHBOY THAT IS LOVELY! I had no idea the Hide House sold brain-tan leather! I really might have to get myself some to play around with! How cool! The bag turned out beautifully! It will be very interesting to see how it ages!

Ooooooh I absolutely love that one you posted, Elleth! If I didn’t already have one of yours (and it’s still one of my most cherished pieces of kit) I would be sorely tempted to relieve you of that one!

Re: Which tunic?

Did you cut the bottom length of that tunic, Ghostsoldier? It looks longer on the website. It must be the angle of the photo Taylor, because it's the same length as when I made it about 15 years ago...all I did was dye it a grey color to repurpose it for Rangering, as it was originally a cream line...

Very nice! I have utterly neglected my mess-kit, to be honest, but I may just have to nab one of these for myself someday.

Re: Which tunic?

Great stuff here! And yes... Ah yes, the age-old “leather jerkin debate,” haha. Personally, I’m a huge fan of leather garments. And I’ve become more of a fan as time has gone on. I definitely understand the objections many people have to leather garb like this, but for my own part I have found them ...

Re: Cloak storage?

Yep, even Viggo Mortensen did it this way as Aragorn in the movies. Seems like a pretty universally preferred method (although I've never actually had the occasion to do it myself).
