Re: Ranger's Apprentice Strikers

Well I had considered that but my plan was to fill the pipe with sand and have the ends capped off but still have the thread together capabilities.

Ranger's Apprentice Strikers

Okay so I've decided to make a pair of RA Strikers and they're description is very simple. Two brass rods 5-6 inches long (or long enough to fit in your palm), with lead weighted end caps that can be used as knock out clubs or kubatons, or they can be threaded together and made into a longer club. I...

Re: A Different Cloak Approach

how it works with quiver or bedroll straps? Do you use softer or thicker leather? How did you make a clasp at the back because my biggest concern is the buckle digging in to my back when I use quiver or bedroll As for a quiver, I have a little slot cut out of the cloak itself that I also attached a...

Re: Wooden Mugs

Well originally I was going to use a 2 part countertop epoxy resin but the prep work and clean up is long, plus if you dont get the mixture totally perfect you get stuck with air bubbles and it looks bad. Beeswax isnt the strongest of finishes no but honestly how beat up is the inside of a mug going...

A Different Cloak Approach

So a very very long time ago somewhere I posted my very rough instruction sheet on how I made my cloak (made with MS Word shapes). And for the longest time the clasping system I was using was two buttons and a small chain wrapped around them holding it around my neck, though I never cared for it, an...

Wooden Mugs

I almost forgot to post up my mugs I've made! In highschool I turned one on a lathe with walnut and oak alternating. Then in trade school I made one with cherry strips and pine accents. The sizes aren't even close to one another but oh well, more ale the better! http://prntscr.com/gh5wkr Here is the...

Re: Has anyone made a coiled straw archery target?

You could order this one. It says from Poland but it also has free shipping anywhere in the US so its a win win. It's price is also quite similar to a modern target close to the same size. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Straw-hay-archery-target-disc-various-sizes-best-prices-60cm-65cm-80cm-110cm-/253081509...

Quenching 1095

So I have a knife blade Im ready to harden and temper. I asked one of the welding teachers at my trade school if I'd be allowed to bring it to temperature and quench it there but they only have water, not oil or brine. My question is, how well will 1095 hold up quenched in water? Is it better to que...

Re: What to make from sheep horn??

As far as I know any horn can be used for a drinking vessel. Most people use bull horn probably because its generally less curly and probably easier to work with. As long as your horn doesn't have a lot of splits or cracks then I dont see why you cant make it a drinking horn. The way sheep horns cur...

Re: A Case for Back Quivers

Yes, it works (if there isn't a cloak involved).... I concur! I wonder what the earliest illustrations of Robin Hood will show? Actually! I modified my cloak to have a small hole cut in the back so my quiver strap can slide through and sit outside my cloak. I also sewed a little cloth patch that ac...

Re: A Case for Back Quivers

I am no historian by any means so take what I say lightly but, if I'm not mistaken most quivers were used by archers in warfare. Archers would use ground quivers so they could shoot more than a dozen or two dozen arrows. I'm sure they also used hip quivers but at the same time archers more than like...

Re: What to make from sheep horn??

Drinking horn
Blow horn
Knife handle possibly?

You could always carve into it and just make a decoration from it. Not a master at horn crafting but I'm sure you'll find something.
