Re: My first cloak, and a question (pic heavy)
I recall seeing something somewhere talking about Dwarven Bear Cavalry, perhaps I was mistaken though. Your kit is coming along quite well, wish I could say the same for mine. *laughs* as for the shiny buckle, there's a fair few folks on etsy that have lovely buckles, or there's the route of getting...

Re: Bracer build from youtube
while that's true, I was thinking more from the dwarven lines that he's going for that metal would perhaps be a better choice since it would fit in with how we perceive dwarves as a whole.

Bracer build from youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEqofmYyrz0 fella calls it dwarven, but I dunno, it looks good but there's some bits that I might have done differently, like maybe stitching the fur in place and not just using contact cement, and possibly I would've contacted someone to get the bits he did with rub ...

Re: Bracer kit from Weaver Leather Supply
Awesome resource. I already own everything in the package except the leather, and I usually get mine from Tandy, but the video will be handy when it's time to make my own bracers. Rob might try getting your leather from http://www.springfieldleather.com that's where I've been getting stuff from lat...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...
well, if you're looking at making and don't want to hand stitch everything, I did find a hand crank cobbler's sewing machine on amazon for reasonable money that I can post a link to, I was looking at getting it for t he making of my own boots.

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...
[quote="Ursus"](snip) Boots: Like others I would rather have a bit more traction via hobnails or some such. Anybody got a source for purchase there? I haven't tried these yet, but they appear to be fairly well constructed, and would be something I would use on the boots I'm currently makin...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...
if it's because I have some sort of vital information, then it becomes a matter of evasion and survival, minimal gear used, ditch anything and everything that's going to just slow you down, bury it in a cache to hopefully come back for later. your best bet isn't to troop around carrying all sorts of...

Re: My first cloak, and a question (pic heavy)
I would also suggest looking at historical references for layers, if you're looking to go the gambeson route, there's some good materials here on the site and upon request I can go digging through all of my reference links for things too.
