Re: "Small" New Project, and some thoughts

I would assume, thinking about it realistically, and not from a romanticized point of view, that being captured by orcs or goblins would likely be much the same (at the very least you'll likely end up being tortured, killed, and eaten - and if you are very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order )...

He might need to install a "Take A Number" machine, so muggings can at least be handled in an organized manner.

Re: Color variations in "uniform" clothing

I'm not sure how much "uniform" you would actually see. It's been ages since I read the trilogy, so I'm not too sure about Faramir's bunch either way. However, as we've been proceeding under the assumption that all Rangers are of noble birth, it wouldn't be particularly unusual to expect n...

Personally, I think they're all horribly flawed and you...um...need to send them to me for...um...proper disposal. Yeah, yeah. That's the ticket.

Seriously, I'm really liking your work. :)

Re: Rangers of the North, and South

I suspect that Tolkien's view on women in fantasy warfare shaped much of the direction fantasy fiction has taken in that regard. It's particularly amusing to me that it's not just allowed, but the norm. Even more modern fantasy stories feature strong, capable women engaged in battling the forces of ...

Re: Rangers of the North, and South

To me, the best thing about the term "Ranger" is that it can mean many different things to many different people, and none of them be wrong. While this forum is called Middle Earth Rangers, it's not actually exclusive to just that. This means that one man's version of Ranger isn't beholden...

Re: Has anyone made the Sword of Truth??

As a fan of of the books I thought the tv show butchered the books. I was able to enjoy the show once I separated it from the books. That's pretty much true for anything that transitions from print to screen. Once the author signs the deal, they lose control of it. Yes, it happens even in cases whe...

Re: Has anyone made the Sword of Truth??

Some have told me their issues with the series is that it leaves out the philosophical themes Terry Goodkind uses in the books, most likely in an effort to reach a broader audience. No clue how much of that is accurate. I know what I watched of the show was enjoyable, but Goodkind's Objectivism wasn...

Re: Military structure of Rangers of the Reunited Kingdom

Ringulf is completely correct. We're not talking about anything but for within our own group as a means of organizing and delegating various tasks and responsibilities. Basically, I'm the official cat herder of our group (since Rangers tend to be individualistic, much like various felines  ).
