Re: A tested Archers Hard Kit

Nice post Rhonin! For those, like me, who are relatively new to archery this info is gold. Thank you!

Could you expand on the "Leather Strop for helping to melt wax into string" part? Why and how it is used would be most appreciated.

Re: Middle-earth material culture resource

The 18thCMCRC is a great site and awesome historical resource. What you are proposing is wonderfully ambitious and could be an incredible resource as well. I think that the most difficult challenge would be in drawing boundary lines of what it should not include. Tolkien's world is obviously massive...

Awesome job MasterStrong! Just checking in on the progress. Have you had a chance to finish it? I would love to see some more pics of the finished project.

Re: Urthgard Hard Kit (pic heavy)

Thanks you all for the kind words. It's so good to be among like minded souls. For those interested, here's a bit more regarding the quiver would you mind posting a drawing of the pattern you created - and how you affixed the "boot" at the bottom of it? Here's a pic of the pattern pieces.....

Re: Urthgard Soft Kit (Pic Heavy)

My sincere apologies for not responding sooner. Crazy summer this one. Thank you all for your most encouraging words. Let's see if we can answer some questions here. You didn't hand sew all that, did you? All leather items are handstitched but the fabric stuff is machine sewn, for now. Funny thing, ...

Urthgard Soft Kit (Pic Heavy)

Funny how easily a week turns into a month, isn't it?. But, as promised here is the beginning of a series of posts detailing my kit. This is my soft kit in it's current state of evolution. Unless otherwise noted, I've either made or modified most everything here and acquired the majority of it, or m...

Re: Mae Govannen my friends!

It's a beautiful brooch. Where did you find it? Manveruon, the star brooch is something that I stumbled across on Etsy for $30 and it took forever to find something that I was happy with. It was posted as being sterling silver. The back of it is stamped with the number "10" then the word ...

Re: Mae Govannen my friends!

Wonderful kit and very convincing persona! Please be welcome Brother! And might I say that you put me in mind of a young, strapping Theoden, out on a hunt or during a stint with the Rangers of Ithilian! Thank you kindly Ringulf. "Young and strapping" perhaps in Dunedai...

Re: Simple and cheap eating knife

Cool post Odigan! Second hand stores are a weekly routine for me and I actually carry something along these lines myself. Several years ago I found an old carbon steel table knife that looked like it lost an argument with a garbage disposal. For .25 cents how could I pass it up? I cut the mangled pa...

Re: Help With My First-Ever Ranger Trek! (believe it or not)

Sounds like a great trip you and MasterStrong have got planned. And wow there are some great tips in these posts. Mind if I just toss a few more your way? I'm too am gonna echo the advice about not trusting weather forecasts. The mountains make their own weather systems. Even without inclement weath...

Mae Govannen my friends!

I am honored to join up with such a diverse, talented and knowledgeable group. I am from Billings, Montana and I am an admitted Tolkien addict. I have been interested in Tolkien since I can remember. But it's only been in the last five years that I've felt resurgence of interest and delved into the ...
