Re: Frothgar and Nemo's camp
You gentlemen aren't going to Gates of Fire this upcoming weekend, are you? It'd be nice to see some fellow people from the forum.

Re: Shadows of War Trailer
I absolutely understand the criticism from Tolkien fans about this series. It's definitely not for everyone. It's a very loose usership of the characters and properties of the books, and definitely diverts wildly from what we may envision of Middle-Earth. For me, the story of the video game is terti...

Re: Shadows of War Trailer
Same here. From a little piece in the first trailer, it LOOKS like we might get to see a little Ithilien? I would love that so much.

Sssooo... Dungeons and Dragons?
Just thought I'd bring up the topic. There is no lack of nerd blood around here, and I'm curious to get a read on any old/current players in the forum. I guess I'd just like to see how many people from this hobby of mine share another hobby in common. :) Is there, beneath this question, an ulterior ...

Mae govannen! I would be remiss if I didn't add my voice to those who welcome you. Always great to see someone new take an interest.

It's actually a photograph! Or a still from footage, but I haven't seen it anywhere else.Greg wrote:Quite a pile of goodies there. Thanks for sharing! That photo of the painting on the "Ithilien" page in one of the visual companions was worth this entire thread to see.

Some Books for Inspiration
I just thought I'd share a few books I picked up that some of you might find interesting or useful. There are a plethora of oversized books that came out in conjunction with the Peter Jackson movies (as I'm sure you're well aware). I've had the Weapons and Warfare book forever, as it is absolutely a...

Great stuff here, Farodel! Thanks for sharing! Was the bow from Ringing Rocks Archery on Etsy, by any chance? For extremely inexpensive archery supplies, I've found they offer some pretty decent equipment. It is, in fact, Ringing Rocks. I wish that I had eschewed the option for the arrow rest actua...

Re: A Quandary Over Buckles
WOW GUYS. I was away for about a week and so much has happened. Fantastic contributions. I may try a few of these options to see what works. There's always another piece to use spare buckles on. For now I'll start with that handmade revolution one, because it's the right shape and I think I can trim...

Re: A Winter patrol.
I had thought the dark red hooded mantle would be more easily seen in the woods, yet it worked well. I'm reminded of Swiss Alpenflage, It's got some unusually vibrant red coloration to blend with deciduous forest. https://img0.etsystatic.com/017/1/8723899/il_570xN.575201200_h5d2.jpg Fun fact: if th...

Re: 2nd Annual MERF Birthday Photo Contest
Great work Taurinor! As I was the recipient of Taurinor's 2nd place gift last year, I will refrain from an official entry out of a sense of honor. BUT I'm still going to get out there and get some photographs! I still need to do a proper kit update, and my boots will arrive on Wednesday. Love these ...

Re: Quiver, Frog, Sword, et al.
Very nice. Do you have the arrow seller's info from Ebay? Thinking of investing in some 'period' arrow that are a bit more expendible than the ones I have. The cloth bag within the leather quiver is a modification I need to make to my quiver. I noticed when I was out deer hunting this fall that the...

Re: Quiver, Frog, Sword, et al.
Fantastic work and acquisitions, Mat! Can't wait to see this stuff with everything else, all put together. I've heard good things about that Longsword...lucky man! I'd assume you used Faramir's cloak or similar for that color swatch...most of the other cloaks weren't that shade of green. Looks cool...
