Re: Philmont Scout Trek

I think you wouldn't need a frame depending on how you plan your trek because many days you could plan to go to many camps with a water source. also depending on the snow amount you would be able to get more water. and I think it would be awesome to work out there I just need to apply and being an e...

Re: Philmont Scout Trek

I don't think it would be possibly in period gear however cool as it may be it would look very odd and out of place there. I actually plan on trying to get a job there and work at the staff camps or as a ranger. maybe then i will see a bear in my travels.

Re: Philmont Scout Trek

Harper we had a chuck wagon dinner too. we were supposed to have two but we showed up late to it and didn't get anything. my crew also didn't see a single bear or any mountain lions. we had a few times hiking at night and we were expecting to see them. Philmont Scout Trek

Hey all. I just got from hiking out in New Mexico at Philmont Scout Ranch. I was out doing the Rayado trek. This trek was 3 weeks long and it was one of the best experiences i have ever had. It is an individual trek. So I went out there alone and met my crew members that range from all around the US...

Wow that is awesome I can't believe you did that if i was around during the time I totally would've joined you. I love hiking the ice age trail in my free time. I wish I could've joined you on hiking that.

What is the equal achievement in Australian scouts? Because you have greatly peaked my interest.

Re: Eagle Scout

Congrats! I have five nephews (two, sons of one sister; three sons of a different sister) who are Eagle Scouts. I find myself in a bit of a conundrum, though. I'm Norse Pagan, my wife is Daoist. Our sons are 7 and 5. Scouts have all sorts of 'approved' religious affiliations, neither of which match...

Welcome to this amazing place daniel. I must say you have started earlier than me and I'm only 16. But come and join this pretty big family and they will teach you many things you need to know.

Re: Tinderboxes!

What I use is an old cotton shirt like peter said and don't use any dyed ones. But i make my char cloth when I'm out camping I cut up the shirt and put it into and Altoids tin and then stick it in the fire and I leave it all night then in the morning I pull it out and put the cloth into a small meta...

Eagle Scout

Well I earned my Eagle Scout merit badge back in December but I had my ceremony a couple of weeks ago and I just want to know how many rangers are Eagle Scouts.

I think since it was leather you could do a deer antler button. that way it would match the style a bit.
