Re: Rope soled boots

Is the rope fairly noticeable underfoot as you walk? Surprisingly, not at all! I was sure to disperse the rope over a pretty decent surface area though in an attempt to avoid this. The cord I ended up stitching on is also not as thick as it could be which I'd expect also has an impact on the level ...

Rope soled boots

So a while ago, this thread popped up on the forum and in it, Caedmon made post about knotted soles that caught my eye. You see a while ago I purchased some pretty standard, leather soled boots as pictured below. pic1.jpg I'd done some walking in them and found that with some adjustment, it wasn't t...

Re: On period waterproofing

Interesting! I've been sitting on some fabric I intend to use as a tarp for a while now, so methods of waterproofing have been on my mind as well. The thing that puts me off about the classic oilcloth recipe is the use of mineral spirits as a drying agent. It just feels way too modern to me. That be...

New Tunic

So after about three weeks on/off of sewing I've finally finished a nice new linen under-tunic for my kit. The whole thing is hand stitched and I managed to source a slightly heavier weighted fabric than what I used on my last one so it should be able to withstand a bit more abuse. I also finally ma...

Re: Wool leg wrap's the easy way

They came out really nice! I like the way that the colours tie into the rest of your kit, it gives the whole setup a lot of consistency!

Re: Finished Snapsack

That is quite interesting! Are you right-handed but left-eye-dominant? I have that issue, personally. I still shoot right-handed, but I have to aim instinctively. I can’t sight down the arrow at all. I'm left handed with pretty much everything except a sword to be honest. I write and draw left hand...

Re: Finished Snapsack

Thanks guys! That snapsack looks slick. Very well put together. How do you like how it feels on the quiver strap under the arm? I absolutely LOVE it, and wouldn't trade it for any other carry method. Hope it serves you well for years to come! EDIT: Question borne on curiosity! Are you left-handed? L...

Finished Snapsack

So while most of my progress on this thing can be found over here, I thought I should post up a final update on the hard kit board. Thanks to everyone's helpful suggestions I finally figured out a robust, modular method of suspending the snapsack from various straps. I stitched on leather reinforcem...
