Re: An quick experiment with archery technique

... if your range allows it, an instinctive-method training I've read and found very useful is remarkably simple: just start crazy-close, where you can't possibly miss, and put a good half dozen arrows or more into your target. Then just keep backing up through the session, making sure to stay just...

Nice one :P Your surcote edging is dark enough not to stand out and light enough to break up your silhouette, adding to the concealment effect, it works well

Re: Home made forge question

Okay, I've been absent for a while... again... Anyway, how is this progressing for you? The forge looks great! It would work well as is with coal or coke. If you want to continue to use lump charcoal, then you may want to consider building up some walls around the firepot using firebricks or clay. ...

Re: Keeping ourselves honest...

Fascinating thread :P A very difficult question, if the scenario is in winter mountains and I'm allowed to include modern kit, I would add a length of rope and associated climbing equipment, ice screws, snow boots, crampons and snow-shoes but; it's not a "what modern elements I'd add" ques...

Re: Suduing wood and metal.. thoughts?

I'm mostly out alone, and other than a period years ago when I was doing overnights alone in public backcountry wasn't paying much attention to trying not to stand out. Re-reading, I'm getting reminded of how important that was, and it has me rethinking things. I think I need to start doing some ex...

Re: Suduing wood and metal.. thoughts?

Interesting, I always imagined that a sword hilt wouldn't be darkened, it would just be hidden behind a cloak. I learnt the benefit of making sure everything is dark about a year ago when I was walking in the forest in kit and decided to sneek up on my family for a laugh, so I left the path and circ...

Re: Thieves Wash - My 14th Century "Hand Sanitizer"

Fascinating and well researched :P I find it interesting how so long before "modern science" some people still worked out that use of things like alcohol worked to prevent illness
