Re: Treasures in the mountains! Coin-caches.
So... just wondering if anybody has gone up there to look for this? There is another one in the Ruby Range in NE Nevada. I plan to go out that way again this summer, and if they are not found by then, I plan to retrieve them myself and re-cache in even more difficult locations. Just so you know... ...

Re: Treasures in the mountains! Coin-caches.
Get to Silverton, go up the Animas River canyon. Past Eureka you will need 4wd. You can get up onto the shoulder of Treasure Mountain either from the Picayne Gulch Road on the south side, or via Placer Gulch on the North. Placer Gulch has a very interesting restored mill building you can tour. (fre...

Re: found this floating around on FB
Imagine... if somebody who was very serious about the Lord's Prayer bought that and then later found out what it REALLY SAYS... they'd be upset! "Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul,: ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul."
I mean... you don't just hear that every day...

Re: The cult of Narsil
With Japanese swords, broken blades are fairly common... usually broken at or close to the hilt. The usual method of salvaging such a blade is to re-drill the mekugi- hole, shortening the blade by moving the handle up. This preserves the point architecture which is critical. I suspect that in the we...

Re: The cult of Narsil
Is there an aspect of the Cult of Narsil that encompasses its transformation into Anduril? I want to know every minute detail of the process by which the sword was remade. I have a pretty good idea how difficult that would be... far beyond the difficulty of making the entire sword from scratch.

Re: Beyond weapons, choosing to go unarmed.
Interesting proposition, there would have to be another reason for them to be there then a bullet blockade. How about a mentoring position ? This would put them in the schools getting to know the students and potential issues and giving the students the benefit of their knowledge. All the while the...

Re: Beyond weapons, choosing to go unarmed.
Sigh... and now yet one more in Parkland. Yet I am not in favor of arming teachers. I'm afraid it would be only a matter of time before someone took a teacher's weapon and used it... or a teacher went "postal". (There is a lot of pressure on them) But I think there is a way... and it invol...

Seems like an extremely fair price! Alas that it has been years since I could fit into a 36 waist!

Re: Beyond weapons, choosing to go unarmed.
When I first started entertaining the idea of going unarmed, it was like a risk-taking adventure. Like going hiking at night without carrying a flashlight, kayaking whitewater without a vest, or rock-climbing without a rope. But as I began to follow this path I noted a lightening of the heart if you...

Beyond weapons, choosing to go unarmed.
A topic dear to my heart. Having been in the weapons business for many years and choosing now to go unarmed, both in real life and in cosplay, I find the experience liberating. Quite frankly, I feel safer to "stand down" from being on alert all the time. Perhaps I'm deluding myself and sim...

Re: Mithril... what is it and how to find it?
I will admit to a metallurgical bias against aluminum (and zinc for that matter). I've seen so much cheap aluminum and cast zinc junk that I have developed a sort of "ethical" bias away from the low-melting-point base metals towards the (as I think if it) upper tier base metals... copper, ...

Re: Scabbard Core Services
I spent so many thousands of hours hunched over a 2x72 grinder that I now have permanent degenerative damage to my spine in the C4-C5 region, with nerve pinching. That's the main reason I don't make blades anymore... I just can't do it more than a half-hour or so at a time. I spent two years making ...

...put that in a big tumbler with some Sunsheen liquid and a couple gallons of stainless steel balls for two or three days and it would brighten right up.
