Re: Fire kit for my D&D crew

Nice. I love the idea of using twine as tinder, since you can also use it as...twine. I’m all about multi use things that cut down the number of items in your kit.

Got in an “icebreaker” outing with little ice but about 4 inches of snow left. That’s a first.

Re: Ideas for Livestream?

Yes. That post by Udwin is what did it for me. The step by step approach meant I had no more excuse to keep dithering around. So if you’re looking to pull people in, that is what worked for me.

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

Hmm, seems like maybe Iodo figured out “half an hour drive” is a variable distance ... depending on how fast you drive.

Re: Leather work help?

Oh yes that looks just the thing, thank you! Looks like I have some reading to look forward to. And I was hoping you would respond, I have admired that project of yours, adding the shafts to the low boots. Can I ask are the two edges just butted together and then stitched? I can’t quite tell from ...

They look like they would be fairly water resistant at least. That could be handy.

Re: Leather work help?

I might have gotten a little over enthusiastic. After mapping out the leather, it doesn’t look like I have enough in the right configuration to do everything I would like. Oh well, it’s probably for the best, I’ll work on a simple pouch to add to my quiver for now. I still am intrigued by the ...

I’m guessing the bundles of greenery are used for whacking your comrades in the sauna. Banya is the Russian term for sauna if I remember right. I’ve never experienced it, but they say a light pummeling about the shoulders whilst in the banya improves circulation and other such benefits. I suspec...

Leather work help?

Ok, I scored some scrap leather of decent sizes from my local hardware store/thrift store. Some was labeled “lace leather” which I think is oil tanned. The other is latigo and some of those pieces are a little thicker - I’m thinking they might make good soles and the oil tanned good uppers. So...

Re: Dúnedain Hats?

What does anybody think of the beret like early style of Scots bonnet? They always struck me as kind of simple enough to be likely in a lot of times and cultures and you could pull it forward and have just enough brim to shade the eyes for archery.

Have to admit, the first one made me think of a dead body. Like a fleeing, decapitated orc, with his hands above ... where his head used to be?

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures

Oh yeah, this is that time of year here when we’re all so sick of the heat and humidity, but we usually get those hints of fall once or twice. That smell and just something in the air. And then it gets miserable again, but you know fall is down the road somewhere.
