Re: Fire steel
the pommel of a knife is ususlly not hardened enough to throw sparks easily, and a knife built like they would have been doing at the time you're talking about would have a softer metal as the pommel like brass as the construction style... I hadn't thought of it like that. My blades are all zombie ...

Re: Fire steel
Seems to me that fire steel is just extra weight to cary around. If I was around a thousand years ago, I would probably just use the pommel of my knife.

Re: Anyone experimented with a Ruana Cloak before?
I wear one at home whenever it's cold, and I don't bother attaching a hood to it for a lot of reasons including the one in that video. If you need a hood, you can always take left (or right) side, toss it over the right shoulder, then from that side toss it over your head. Actually look at the follo...

Re: Wrap Pants
From a very simplistic approach. Suppose you had no clothes at all. Completely naked and all you had was some blankets. I think a Rauna Cloak / Tunic and Wrap pants, Sash, and Leg wraps would be the quickest easiest things to make.

Wrap Pants
Cotton Wrap Pants is something I have worn for over 20 years and I never see anybody talk about them when it comes to a soft kit, and they look fairly easy to make. For both Men and Women they can be tied and worn in a number of ways on the upper as well as the lower legs. Using separate leg wraps c...

These can be custom made. I've been thinking of getting one made with my family crest or something like that.Straelbora wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 1:50 am Nice! Is it custom, or available as a mass produced item? I'd love to get one.

There is a forum for non-related items; if you posted the first issue there or part of it I'm sure some would give it a read and some feedback.

Or you could just make one from scratch. "The Magic Dragons", or "Rogue Rangers", or "Routing Travelers".

Re: Mittens
Hail Rangers, I'm looking for sources for fur lined leather mittens or patterns for same. Can't find some of my extreme weather kit. Any help is greatly appreciated. If your not too set on making them yourself and just want something that looks authentic, Canadian Prepper has several options in his...
Re: Coinage
You should of gone to Maelstrom, Four different currences each with a range of coins and all made from metal. I have given some serious consideration of minting my own coins of Silver, Gold, Platinum, Copper. I figure each coin should have a hole in it so it can be put on a rod or rope or necklace....
Re: Coinage
It may be strange to some, but here in the States I always use the Gold colored U.S. Dollar. It has an oldish look due to the gold tint but has real utility value in the sense I can really buy things with it while being more true to character. I think it's better than pulling ut a paper currency or ...
