Re: Water Treatment on the Trail
Growing up, we never carried water. We would be out in the woods before sunrise and after sunset and didn't carry an ounce. Not even an empty bottle. Water was everywhere and we just drank when thirsty. We usually found the source of the spring, where contamination is not really possible. The water ...

Re: What's everyone working on?
Recently made these water bottles. Each holds 32 oz. Very nice! Mind if I ask how you were able to plan for them to hold a quart? I've been trying to figure out a good way to anticipate how big I need to cut my leather & account for shaping/stretching to make a rectangular 32oz bottle but I'm s...

Re: On Bracers and Vambraces
Sorry to bring up am old topic, but I'm slowly reading through all the stuff here. He carried a sword, dagger and bow, and was called a forest...

Re: The Pennsic War
No worries, I kind of guessed that's the one you meant. There's certainly nothing wrong with a sword at pennsic, but I guess most folks find them cumbersome after a while. Much the same as you wouldn't carry a bow there unless you were on the way to the range, but if you had one, no one would care. ...

The kit, the sword or the knife?

Re: The Pennsic War
I've been to many pennsics, and plan to continue. I would say that there is certainly much to learn as long as you are able to pick through various sca-isms. The combat is very sca specific, but there are also classes on medieval sword play as well, and there is much growth in the studying of the me...

Sorry for being late, but I just joined. It could be porcupine. "Porcupines prefer the young bark, leaves, and terminal twigs commonly found high up in the crown of a mature tree, but will strip bark anywhere on a tree’s trunk or branches. Like beavers, porcupines prefer to eat the nutritious i...
