Re: New Kingston Arms swords!

Andy I agree with your assessment on training with your blade of choice, I currently don’t have a school but want to get into it once I sort out some other life priorities. As for sharpening sword sized blades, I actually have no experience doing so. I have extensive experience sharpening my own kni...

Re: Lets talk Eorlingas.

Thank you! It’s all entry level soft kit. I have plans to update my pants and surcoat/jerkin to dyed braintan, but I need to move and get settled in a new job first. There’s also a pair of boots I’ve got my eye on to update mine at some point as well.

Re: Lets talk Eorlingas.

I can’t wait to see your kit once you have it together! I would love to one day join the ranks of the Rohirrim, but realistically I’d rather fine tune and elevate Barandir’ skit first and possibly add a Dwarven or Woodsmen persona before I get to Rohirrim.

Re: New Kingston Arms swords!

The XIV is the perfect size for carrying convenience while still being long enough to not be a “short sword”, so still long enough to match the sidearms of the average orc or bandit.

Re: New Kingston Arms swords!

I’m gonna be moving here this weekend, and once I get settled in the new place I intend to finally put together a cutting setup. The edge on my XIV has a pretty pronounced secondary bevel, however. I’m probably going to have to adjust that before I can do much successful serious cutting with it.

Re: Lets talk Eorlingas.

If you want to use actual boards, Skallagrim did a video years ago where he used some very thin lightweight tongue and groove flooring boards to make his shield and it worked great. Would highly suggest that method since you would get the effect/look of wooden boards and also the ease of gluing tong...

Re: Lets talk Eorlingas.

Nice! What size shield are you thinking? I personally prefer a nice medium sized shield, as it offers a nice compromise between coverage and portability.

Re: Lets talk Eorlingas.

Highly, highly suggest a migration era round shield. That’s something that was under-utilized in the films (I know it was mostly to keep them out of the way of the actors’ faces).

Re: Two Tod Cutler knives to try out

Thanks! I know everyone on here leans towards the seax as the most likely/reasonable side knife to carry in Middle Earth, but I’m personally leaning towards the dagger myself. It’s a single edge blade meant for utility work as a peasant knife, so it should fit the bill really well!

Mae govannen, and well met! I personally feel like we don’t have enough Rohirrim or Dwarves around here, so either would be quite a welcome addition!

Two Tod Cutler knives to try out

So I've always been a fan of Tod Cutler's knives and daggers, and I've owned both of his base level quillon daggers. I also haven't been the happiest with my companion knife scenario for Barandir, which is currently a Condor Hudson Bay knife, and while I do love Tod's daggers, they just aren't the r...
