Re: The Elder Scrolls Skyrim

I absolutely love The Elder Scrolls games! I guess I'm weird by the fact that I like Oblivion more than Morrowind. They're both great games (and there are definitely things about Morrowind that I like more than Oblivion- like the not-bland story lines and the more in-depth skills), but I had more fu...

Re: D&D 5E

I'm interested in what they'll do for 5E. Hopefully they'll move away from the "let's make it ridiculously easy/"streamlined" for new players to get into D&D" (which basically means it's gonna suck for experienced players). My group of friends have been sticking with 3.5E, wh...

Re: middle earth minecraft

Sounds fun. My roommates and I were going to build a (hopefully 1:1) replica of Orthanc or Minas'Tirith at some point...we just haven't gotten around to it.

Re: New-er-er Dwarves!

While all three of the dwarf pictures released look pretty cool, it makes me nervous that only 4 out of 7 of them look like actual dwarves. Shoot, Kili (the one on the right) looks like he could be a bad copy of strider! Dwarves are NOT supposed to be man-pretty, that's the elves' job. I still think...

Re: Any and All Fantasy Fiction Book Discussion

I just recently finished Terry Goodkind's novel "Stone of Tears" (which is #2 in the Sword of Truth series). I know Willrett has read them, but has anyone else read them too? I really, really, really liked this one! I love how Goodkind keeps my interest through such long books. He puts his...

Re: Any and All Fantasy Fiction Book Discussion

I LOVE Bernard Cornwell! I haven't read his Warlord trilogy, but I have read a lot of his other books. I highly recommend his "Saxon Stories" series. It's about the Danish invasion of Britain under the rule of Alfred the Great. There are 5 out right now, and a 6th one is coming out later t...

I love the Rankin/Bass Hobbit, and (this may sound weird) but the songs were my favorite parts!

Re: Renaming contest

Young Rangerling, Those are fine names indeed, but in choosing a name you must know the meaning, and our smith is making a blade that is new and as yet, unnamed. While I am sure it would be an honor for a blade to carry the name of a long treasured and storied weapon of the Elder Days, I think it i...

"The Ghost and The Shadow"...sounds like a comic book miniseries to me!
I think someone...coughMirimarancough...should write a poem about this

Re: Renaming contest

Here's my entry: I chose Egimeril (emphasis on the first i). The g, like Ernildhir's, is hard. Egimeril basically translates to: "Thorn of the Rose" or "The Rose's Thorn". I chose this name because like the knife, a rose is both pretty and potentially dangerous, as well as it bei...

Re: Equestrian Questions

Greg- this is from Michelle: Hey Greg, it's Michelle. David passed this along to me... so, I thought I'd throw in my two cents. Awesome. Don’t buy a saddle until you have the horses. Sounds silly, but (trust me) it’s worth the wait. The saddle shouldn’t bang against their withers, pinch them, ...
