Re: Sword Recommendations
For a short sword axe combo like you speak of I dont think you can go wrong with Dwaynes Tinker Hanwei Norman. Those blades are handy while still being long enough to give a decent reach, and they are stiffer than alot of high end X's making them decent thrusters....a very versatile weapon for the m...

Re: Looking for references....
I appreciate that, Mike! My second love is flintlock firearms if I could find genuine sources that overlap longswords and flintlocks that would be awesome. Thanks again.

Looking for references....
Looking for references to 18th century longsword sparring. Was looking at AEMMA site today and saw a mention of longsword sparring in the mid 18th century if anyone has anything concrete on longsword bouts in this time period please let me know. Thanks

Re: Long treks
I try to get several long rides in every year covering roughly 40 miles plus/minus, It does make a decent packer out of you and it gives the horses alot of experience with bears and elk. I go primitive because most of the time the horsecamps are already full and few simple precautions will keep a ra...

Re: Sword Preference?
Manveruon, I have seen type XVI/ XII hybrids, they did exist historically. These blades feature a shorter point section and will be thrustier than a Xa,XI, XII. Earlier swords generally geared to the cut predominantly had lenticular cross sections rather than the diamond cross sections seen later ma...

Re: Sword Preference?
Here are my two swords a type XIV and a type XVIa both were custom made by Micheal Pikula to my own specs. Both of these weapons are representative of both my taste in hilt furniture as well as my preference in blade typology. I want, at some point, to commission another two hander hilted similarly ...

Re: Theft alert: stolen anvil
Its so sad to hear, I hope you get it back. Everyday I hate people more and more. Hate is a wasted emotion, brother. It could've been worse. I do appreciate the the well wishes though. Jonathan, we're keeping an eye on the web and planning to hit some local flea markets this weekend.

Re: Theft alert: stolen anvil
If I ever have another real anvil, or am lucky enough to get this one back, it will be chained to my stump. As I never did any real heavy forging I just had ol' dirty girty settin on top of the stump. Theft honestly never crossed my mind. "Wisdom: the knowledge you obtain when its too damn late...
