Very nice. A serviceable design also. Now what are you going to make the sheath from ?

After cutting out the main pack piece I formed the back inside out, glued and clamped the seams to be sewn. After setting I punched the stitching holes, made a reinforcing strip to cover the seam and glued the strips in place. I then punhed stitch holes in the reinforceing strips and did a saddle st...

New Project Leather Backpack

This is a backpack I made for one of our fellow forunites here. I completed it about a month ago but being the electronically challanged individual I am I decided to wait until I could hopefully post the pics by myself. I'm not sure if that time has come but we shall see: The backpack was to be some...

Jeff my youngest brother, traded some smith training (from an ABS trained knifemaker )for a large anvil he found in an antique store and forged his own knife. He later used some of his training to fo...

Well then we've met. I used to do some volunteer crew work on the Halfmoon for about 5 years during that time frame. You and several others (some dressed as Native Americans) did a demo with a small deck gun mounted on a small boat. You had mentioned you worked on a Historic Museum farm on Long Isla...

I also recommend Crazy Crow and Turkey Foot. If you mean for lowering the loose tea into the water during steeping, it's not a tea baller but Townsend carries a bamboo strainer that would serve the same purpose. I took a look at the strainer, I like it better than my tea baller. It appears tighter ...

Steve,
You didn't by chance do some earlier matchlocks era demos with the Halfmoon in Peekskill about 8-9 years ago ?

Jas. Townsend a sutler both catalog and online, carries a good many of the things you mentioned. Block tea, sugar cones, sewing and repair kits and materials. Dixie Gun Works is another that carries material, patterns knives, cooking utensils and other camp ironware. Many of the online sources carry...

Steve, I just noticed where you're located. There are three of of within an easy drive to you. A few of us are going to try to attend the New York Renaisance Fair in Tuxedo later this year. I've met a good few people at the Renfair via www.Swordforum.com in the past so with a few of us and a few fro...

Stamping a pattern would only compress part of the leather and would most likely make it more slick. How about something like hobnails, possibly rivets through the bottom layer only. I'd suggest a padded insole but it should add traction and add to the overall life of the sole, similar to the nails ...
