Re: tRoP Posters: What use can we glean?
This one I call the mariner. tRoP_07.jpg Not much to say here. The tooling on the belt is interesting. Not specifically one of the professor's Numenorean motifs, but it *could be* extrapolated. What's with the wrist binding? The shoulder trim has an arc line / Numenorean lotus vibe; and feels a lot ...

Re: tRoP Posters: What use can we glean?
So the blockprint tunic. tRoP_03.jpg This is interesting. Most people assume this is an elf. It has strong Numenorean vibes for me. The idea of printed/painted fabric is one I have shied away from, mostly because of early reenactment experience. However, painted fabric is well attested historically,...

tRoP Posters: What use can we glean?
So another tRoP teaser dropped in the form of character studies with emphasis on the hands and a variety of clothing. I know everyone is on the spectrum from cautious optimism to downright loathing, but can we sift something useful here? Yeah, the weapons suck, and they are over-using raw silk and l...

Re: Amazon LoTR ‘First Trailer’
Um, well. Uhh. I can't believe I'm defending this show. This is not to say that Amazon will do it right. I remain deeply skeptical of the whole affair. Perhaps even more so, now that the filmmakers poured some pewter on a open face mold and tried to pass it off as "real-world forging techniques...

Re: Amazon LoTR ‘First Trailer’
Thanks for that Harper. Good reveal in that analysis. Apparently the series rating will be TV-14, so hopefully this will put paid to the the whole Game of the Rings fears.

Re: On leatherworking?
Temonthe, Hey, welcome! I saw that Iodo was the last person to comment and I thought she was the original poster! Please, ignore my attempts to convert to UK measurements. Soldotna eh? I see you're in my neck of the woods. I'm up in Palmer. Also Elleth used to live here as well. (So there are lots o...

Re: On leatherworking?
Don't have much time, so I just rattling of a couple thoughts.... First, it looks like your sword is a LARP sword? If so it's already so thick, that I wouldn't do a normal wood core scabbard. About 15 years ago there was a guy over at ArmourArchive.org making really thin cuir boili scabbards for SCA...

Re: MERF Random Adventure Pictures
Hey Guys, Just pulled down the pics from my Scout Troop's Winter Survival Camping trip this last weekend. We went to one of our guy's remote family cabin about 60 miles north of Fairbanks (red marker). (about 500 miles north of us (blue marker), and 100 mile south of the Arctic Circle. trip.jpg We b...

Site's back up; Wikis Restored.. mostly
The site's back up, and... the Wiki's restored. (Mostly)
I had to do some pretty radical update work, as it was really antiquated.
Single sign-on between the forum and the wiki is currently down, and I need to rebuild the theme. But the content is once again accessible.
