Re: Need feedback on idea of a 'Middle-Earth inn'

Hey Straelbora, So what is the status on your Inn project? Have you built it? If not yet, I have some suggestions concerning amenities; As someone who has cooked meals over open fires for a couple of hundred people, I would strongly urge that you have a kitchen area with a hand pump water into a dou...

Re: 2017 Southeast Moot

So is this Gathering still in the works for the same date listed above? I am just trying to figure out if we have the finances to go and more importantly if my truck will be in shape to make that trip and how to work out some conflicts in schedules with my equestrian duties. Is this the same locatio...

Re: Yavion’s Gift

My original thought was to do a pouch with a snow leopard on it, but Ringulf suggested I do a nice Viking Knit necklace instead. I thought that would be nice, given Yavion’s Norse persona, and that he might like it. So I got some silver plated copper wire, 65 feet of it to be exact, and a wooden d...

Re: 2016 Yuletide Gift Exchange

That is very fine craftmanship from what I can see here in the pics! Great work! As soon as I get a break from frenzied holiday cleaning cuz the in-laws are arriving at any time - I will download and post the pics of our gifts. Thank you to Caedmon for the awesome forged spoons and handmade wool her...

Re: 'Who Am I?' - Persona Creation Worksheets

Brandwyn, that is a very interesting persona idea! Based on the fragments of early Fourth Age history we have, I can easily imagine that having a hobbit lady-in-waiting would be quite trendy in Rohan. There's nothing to support it directly in the text, but reading between the lines (based on the Me...

Re: I never imagined I'd enjoy pondering PAPER this much!

I bet Ringulf thought I wouldn't find this thread. Heh heh... Yes, Christmas is coming! Jesse, Do you perchance sell to the Limner's Guild in the SCA who markets at the Pennsic Wars? If so, I suspect I have 4 sheets of pergmena among my stash of goat skin parchment and sheep vellum that I bought fro...

Re: 'Who Am I?' - Persona Creation Worksheets

Thanks for posting the templates. I have seen things like that before for gaming characters and didn't think to use it for my persona here. I will have to find some time to look them over and fill in my persona. The following is what I posted on the Yule thread. So I will offer up my persona for dis...

Re: 2016 Yuletide Gift Exchange

I have phase 1 complete - the featured centerpiece of the gift and now have to figure out what I am doing for phase 2. I hope to finish up this coming weekend and get it in the mail next week. Maybe. Don't hold your breath though.

Re: 2016 Yuletide Gift Exchange

MERF name: Brandwyn Persona name - I think Brandwyn Rosamund Brandybuck - "Brandy Rose" for short. (still working that out) Probably early 4th age Ringulf had such a great time with this last year that I want to get in on the fun too! Just one problem, I haven't really nailed down my perso...

Re: Locations in the Carolinas

Ringulf and I were so happy to get to meet you folks at the gathering this weekend. We had a great time and got to eat some awesome food! Thanks for your hospitality! Seeing all of the garb, encampments and trinkets for barder has really inspired me to get my act together and sort out my persona and...

Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

Brandwyn, Just a quick question that has little to do with the original topic, Why didn't they just grind the bent inch off? An inch off a forklift blade would hardly effect the lift and it seems it would be a much less costly effort. I've run a variety of forklifts over the years and it seems an e...

Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

Oh yes, please do ramble on about all topics forging. I came very close to apprenticing in the SCA to a Master Smith named Brock, but we couldn't get our schedules to match. I also have gotten to see some forging techiniques on a massive scale at work where they repair anchor chains for the big ship...
