Re: Sword scabbard suspension
Whether or not something is "Rangery" is pretty open to interpretation. It's a handy, practical way to carry a weapon, and can be adapted to carry an assortment of other gear, which is pretty rangery. Besides, some of the Ithilien ranger costumes had baldric-esque features. Or at least one...

Re: Sword scabbard suspension
I'd love to see how you set that up! I have a similar baldric that I always thought would work like that. Ken I originally had the straps able to pivot via chicago screws (as you can see in the picture) but after a while I noticed that it was more secure if it didn't pivot in the front of the frog,...

Re: Sword scabbard suspension
I've carried swords a lot of different ways and a baldric is my preferred method for pretty much every type. I made a "Ranger" baldric with integrated by-knife and straps for bedroll/whatever, and it works perfectly for carrying my longsword. It keeps it higher than hanging it off of a bel...

Re: BKS Ranger swords
Agreed. I have a longsword with their typical wrap, and while it's not as bad as you'd think (especially if you're wearing gloves)I still have them do wood grips on the stuff they make us.Peter Remling wrote:I like it. I never cared for the typical BKS grip wrap. The bare wood design looks much better.

BKS Ranger swords
So, I work at a cutlery shop in Southern California and I've been working with Baltimore Knife and Sword on a series of exclusives for the store, and for the first longsword in the series I went with a ranger-y design, obviously. Next to my Christian Fletcher, these are the nicest swords I've handle...

Re: Thinking of Buying a Sword
The standard BKS blade usually doesn't have a distal taper, but they will make a taper blade for a custom order, easily. My longsword from them is distal tapered and handles nearly as well as my Atrim.

Re: Thinking of Buying a Sword
First off, I spent enough to buy a used car on my longsword and could not care less what anyone thinks of that fact. It is perfect, and will either be passed down to worthy offspring, or buried with me. If the Albion is your sword, be proud of your acquisition. Or, if your wallet disagrees with that...
