Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll

You're awesome! I imagine the originals had prongs underneath that were peened over. For yours, a metal loop is probably the easiest solution.

Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll

I'll have a pretty close replica done I think by the end of the weekend. I've been meaning to make one for ages, since it's not out there yet. For around a 1" strap, I think? Manv- do you know? In that case, I'll hold off on ordering one for a few more days. 1" looks about right Also, I t...

Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll

Which short ones are you referring to? This one - it's all over Gondor men's kit: Aragorn, Boromir, Faramir - probably others. I assume WETA made it originally for Boromir's leather surcote and then just reused them all over the place. In your tool roll, they're missing the actual buckle frame, but...

Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll

frame in steel I've not seen the short ones available from anyone, though I've been meaning to model them up at some point this year. If it's something you think you'd use, I can prioritize that (I bet Manv would want a couple as well). That looks like the it would be pretty close enough. I'll run ...

Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll

I can say the strap buckle is the same as the one on Faramir's quiver, and the closure straps use the same base pieces as are on Faramir's cloak, Boromir's surcote, and Aragorn's quiver - I've never seen those secondary "leaf" portions however. Yeah, i recognize the hardware from other ge...

Boromir Bag/Toolroll

So we never see it on film (that I can recall), but apparently Boromir had a roll-up bag, for toiletries or what have you. A customer has commissioned a replica from me, and I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about it/has any more pictures. https://img1.etsystatic.com/204/0/73046275/icm_ful...

What if anything did you use for the background texture on the leather?
I used a few different background stamps and kind of layered them to create the pebbled look.

Yep, good eye!

Fiddling with some leather tooling

Figured I'd make a dunedain star. It makes a fine fibula/brooch. It woukd be a nice hair accessory if I had any. I carved the stick from some cocobolo, and it really ties the whole thing together, literally. Image

Thanks man! I mostly do pretty basic sheaths and gun holsters, but i always jump at a chance to make something middle earth themed.

Re: Some LOTR inspired leather goods.

It's the 1415 blade. I believe the 1561 is a bit thinner, and doesn't have a fuller.

Re: Some LOTR inspired leather goods.

I tooled the trees by hand. Having a stamp would be easier, but it would make adjusting the size a pain. I've seen the buckles, hopefully I can convince a customer to upgrade some day haha. My longsword is one of the older borderwatches back when he was using atrim blades almost exclusively. Since t...

I've posted a few pictures of stuff I've made on the facebook group, but I figured I'd share them here as well. https://imgur.com/gallery/0cEgx

Re: Cold Steel MAA Italian Longsword!!

Be sure to take the pommel off to make sure the tang is in good condition. For a while there, cold steel swords had a threaded rod VERY poorly welded onto the end of the tang.
