Re: In Search of Pre-Made Body Linens
Don't know if this fits the era you're going for but have a linen shirt and a wool waistcoat from these guys and they're both awesome. https://www.samsonhistorical.com/collections/womens-clothing/products/womens-linen-shift The 100% linen one isn't available yet, but it should be $80 - $100 when it ...

Thanks! Your picnic roll definitely helped in figuring out the general layout, so thank you.Iodo wrote:Love it! It came out really well

Re: Boromir bag build
That is nice work! The stitching must have taken foreeeeevvver. I especially like how you used the middle part of Shockbolt's Boromir tabard-clasp as button. It's *exactly* the kinf of thing WETA would have done. Thanks! I had a few of the first ones he modeled that were too small around,...

Re: Boromir bag build
It's about as close to canon as you can get without being screen used. It makes a lot of sense, but Boromir already had so much to carry, I get why they scrapped it.

Re: Boromir bag build
I finished up the bag today. Me and my client opted for the half tool roll, half portmanteau/pouch. For the closure I did two straps with D rings at each end that were riveted in one spot on the bag right underneath the decorative leaf/feather/things. The shoulder strap is a single strap that you th...

Re: Boromir bag build
Yeah, nobody at weta that I've been able to contact has any memory of it. I did come across a scene from the special features where Peter Jackson is on the phone and says something along the lines of "get rid of boromirs bag, I don't like it." The idea I have in my head is something like a...

Re: Boromir bag build
Opening it seems a little awkward. It looks like you'd have to take it off your shoulder, lay it down, slide the straps over the sides and then unroll, unless I'm not seeing something. :?: It looks like it loops around and through some D rings so it cinches closed as you carry it. I need to play ar...

Re: Boromir bag build
It could be a blanket cover, but the label says "boromir bag" so maybe not. My standard style knife roll is the basic guideline we're going with for the inside. https://i.imgur.com/oxHxneA.jpg I could definitely do something more functional, but keeping the outside screen accurate is the b...

Re: Boromir bag build
Not sure if it’s just me but looking at the ends it appears to be stitched and constructed in a style similar to a portmanteau. If you zoom in close you can see the stitching. I maybe imagining it or it could just be folded and stitched to make a clean border. A soft bodied portmanteaus could be ...

Boromir bag build
Recently a customer commissioned a replica of boromirs shoulder bag/tool roll. It was scrapped before productions so this seems to be the only known photo of it. https://i.imgur.com/N86qOoM.jpg The outside and strap setup seems straight forward enough. My issue is the inside. I'm thinking of doing i...

It works pretty well, it's just a loop that goes around the button, so gravity does most of the work.

Re: Ranger Shoulder Bag
Suede should work pretty well for you, especially if you treat it. I made a suede bag like mine for a friend who's a canoe guide and it gets splashed all the time with no ill effect. Suede has a bad reputation, but that's either from people with low quality suede or people who throw a fit when their...
