Re: Considering a new bow...

Thanks, Eledhwen. I've also got a longbow from Rudderbows that I have had for ~8 years now, hickory-backed ipe ELB. Not too worried about strict historical accuracy, since ME is primarily a fantasy world with historical influence, but I wouldn't want to use something that seems wildly inaccurate or ...

Re: Considering a new bow...

Interesting. I've heard Osage is a very good bow wood, but the ones I've seen have all been longbows. It is. It's got awesome compression strength, but I'm fairly sure its tensile strength is lacking. With a bamboo backing, it's right up there with yew as far as making a quality bow. Greg's bow mig...

Re: Guedelon medieval castle

My posts about the French were just jokes, I realize it is sometimes difficult to understand that through such an impersonal medium as the internet. My apologies if any offense was taken, I meant it only in lighthearted jest.

Re: From Rhovanion

Flax for me, thanks. Those bright yellow and bright orange strings just leave me cold. To the best of my knowledge, brace height does not affect draw weight, although it can affect range and accuracy. In my case, I have the brace height down because I was not shooting the bow, so it was under less ...

"I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time." Sad that the only good Frenchman was played by an ...

Re: St. Hubert's Rangers

Man I was scouting some hunting spots down in Merrit Island and we were on the johnboat with a mudbuddy engine, so on our way through some twisted mangroves I am standing on the bow and my buddy is on the engine in the stern and we got into this alley that was filled with gigantic spiders on there ...

Re: Considering a new bow...

Good to see my interpretation of this isn't so far off base. I emailed them to ask if it was possible to stain the bow prior to applying their finish to the bow. Bamboo is really light colored and it would look rather out of place otherwise. As soon as he emails me back I'm going to place my order, ...

Re: Considering a new bow...

I just shot them an email after double- (and triple-) checking my budget. Not sure if I should stick with #45 so I can use the arrows I have currently, or go with #55 and buy a half-dozen arrows... I figure if the elves would use something like this, and seeing as the Dunedain had such a close relat...

Considering a new bow...

Hey all, currently in a bit of a predicament deciding on a new bow... I currently have an English Longbow I purchased from Rudderbows years ago (hickory-backed ipe) and it's a wonderful bow. I have always been passionate about ELB's. But they were designed for open warfare, not dense woodlands, and ...

Nice! Were you able to make a decent pattern from Andy's boots that others could use?

Re: Valiant Armoury swords on ebay

The Crusader can be ordered directly through VA for 400. These swords are clearly marked up BUT not really a whole lot. And the fact that you don't have to wait months and months makes these a decent deal. My Crusader was nice but ultimately it was too light for me, weighs right about 2lbs even and ...
