Re: Another Outing (Caution; Pic-Heavy)

I'm not surprised, the groin is one of the common areas a tick will go for, along with the armpit.

Re: Another Outing (Caution; Pic-Heavy)

One of my reasons for wanting to rig up a hammock when I finally get out there and do this. Don't know about the lazy tick strain you guys may be dealing with, but the ones down her know how to jump! And they fall on you out of the Spanish moss in the trees, so hammocks may be a deterrent, but not ...

Re: One Sword... or Many?

SO here's the question: It seems that the starting price of a really nice, but not perfect, sword is in the $600-$800 range. I have several not so great quality swords that I could sell and buy one good one. Good idea? Bad idea? Discuss. I am curious if Caedmon ever ended up following through with ...

Re: Swords and Daggers

For functional European swords, I would stay very far away from their site. If you're looking for a Japanese blade or a decorative blade, then they will be fine. Make sure you pay careful attention to each sword's description.

Re: New Bow!!

Here try this page: http://www.rbows.com/purchase.html Doesn't list any retailers, either. I'm going to try and call or email Jim soon and see if he really has sold the company. Definitely bad news IMO if he has, he's been one of the leading makers in the traditional bow market for well over a deca...

Re: New Bow!!

I've got two bows from Rudderbows. Jim was always a pleasure to deal with.

They changed the website and removed a TON of their products recently, and I've heard rumors that Jim actually sold the company. A shame if true.

Congrats on the bow, it looks lovely.

Yup, been following that one myself. I'm anxious to see it finished (though not as much as you are, I bet).

Re: Has anyone made the Sword of Truth??

I have not been able to verify this so you will want to do your own independent research, but, supposedly, the copyright for the Strider's Sword is no longer active. So its design would fall under fair use and you could have a screen-accurate replica built for you and not worry about any lawsuit. A...

Re: One Sword... or Many?

What I expect in the $500-$800 price range is a sword that is built well, isn't likely to break (just by swinging it and not hitting anything), made with feel (balance, COP, blade geometry) accounted for, and perhaps some individual attention paid by the maker. Honestly, your price range here borde...

Re: Has anyone made the Sword of Truth??

There was a gent on SFI a while back that made the Sword of Truth based on the little sketch that appears in the book series. He was asked to cease and desist, despite the fact that there are unlicensed replicas of everything out there. Goodkind is a bit of a nutter so I don't see it happening any ...

Re: Good deal on wood arrows...

I made an order as well, though for a custom set. No guarantees, but he said that a normal set would take 2 weeks normally. Because I got different shafts and self nocks, he said it would take three weeks or longer. Three weeks is this Friday, so I have my fingers crossed. Two weeks is much better ...
