labor: absolutely! Strong backs with quick minds are always useful on a farmstead. Provided you can get them to trust you. :) Elleth and Straelbora, where did you get your coin pouches from? Or did you craft them yourselves? Ooops! Forgot to say - yes, I made mine as well. But coinpurses are quite s...

Re: Dunedain Cultural Responses and ‘Talk’
If one is to do accents, I like Eastern Europe or Scandi for Dwarves. I'm imagining the "Vikings" accent near-universally in deep baritones and it's giving me shivers. Personally, I'm terrible with accents so I'll have to just stick with diction. :) As an aside, the more I look a...

Re: What has it got in its pocketses? .. Pt 1, Paying your way
Thinking on trade goods a bit more.... .. I think it radically depends on where you are and where you're planning to be. For most people in Eriador along the Great East Road, I expect coinage to be the order of the day, especially in Bree and points west into the Blue Mountains. If a person isn't in...

I would also carry trade goods. I think of the Mountain Men and other first Europeans to penetrate into the interior of North America. You could easily find yourself where coined money is essentially useless. That is a really interesting idea. One of my "to-get-around-to-it-someday" proje...

Yikes! I’ve been meaning to write this up for some time, and I fear I’ve let the season get away from me. Anyhow, to follow up on the “pocket litter†article from the MERS I wanted to talk - pocket money. No matter how long you roam the wilds, eventually you’ll need a bit of coin. Maybe yo...

Certainly "in world" I think you're right Straelbora - though I doubt they'd speak Sindarin much in front of other peoples unless they were speaking directly with elves. I think Greg's asking more about reenactment portrayals - necessarily in English (at least amongst most of the current m...

Aaaaand I think I got a good one!
The leaf motif owes a lot to both Udwin and Cedarlore Forge, but the arc DNA is all Professor.
I think it'll work out well.

Personally, I love it when that happens!
We're rediscovering / trying so much that revisiting old topics with new information or interpretations is a great practice I think.

That looks much better!
So... you kept the existing sides, and stitched in a covering strip along the center portion?
What's exactly holding the water? Is there a bladder inside covered by a leather body? Or are those sides actually part of the structure holding the water?

Re: Numenorean design motifs
So I've been thinking of Numenorian motifs of late. I still think it's a perfect foundation to start with, but the more I contemplate them, the more... out of place it seems to be using unaltered motifs from thousands of years previous in the late Third Age. And many have a mediterranean feel that d...

Re: Thoughts on harps of the Dunedain?
Thank you Iodo! Hrm... a dwarven drum - that's an interesting idea! :) The shape is fairly late medieval / early renaissance: normally I'd want to stick to an earlier period for inspiration, but I'm thinking this may work given the Professor's admitted 500-year pastiche of a "mythic middle ages...

That looks great Ursus! For what it's worth, for those wanting a wooden mouth for their bota but don't have access to a lathe, I've used these - just drill out the bottom: https://www.etsy.com/listing/502140019/25-tall-unfinished-wood-candlestick ... A wine bottle cork fits perfectly in them, strang...

Wild! So that's... actually a glowing tower in the distance? A solar collector?
