That first blade is extremely tempting.
Curses.
*hunches over penny jar and starts counting*
I'll get back to you soon. I really want that thing.

Nah...that doesn't mean anything. In fact, it might keep some folks from reading it...If it means anything, Greg seems to like it.

Re: Lost or misinterpret LOTR film scenes
In the extended edition, Sam DOES go back home, and he says the iconic "I'm back."
HOWEVER, the biggest beef I had with all the movies was the lack of the Grey Company. I voted for a few, certainly, but MAN oh MAN, I was mad that I didn't get my Halbarad & Co. fix.

Re: Deal for anyone who needs a bag!!!!
Sam, I actually kinda wish I had the one you have. Mine has a bit of a frame built into it, and looks a bit less Middle-Earth appropriate than yours does. Mine is still the S&P green, but the underside where the straps are is different. I swear, I'm gonna get you those closer pics of my pack tha...

Re: Just ordered a bow.
If you're keeping a training manual, you might also consider (once you move on to working on accuracy) to use the last few pages of your journal to draw random patterns of the groups you're shooting, with dates and distances, to monitor your progress. It's fun and encouraging to see improvement, so ...

Re: Just ordered a bow.
WOO HOO NEW BOWS! For starters, go join tradgang.com, go into the shooter's forum, and read the thread titled "Terry's Form Clock" and just about every other post by Terry Green. The man is a consistency machine, and he's the king of back tension (another thing to look up.) Look up some of...

Re: The best scabbard building site I have ever seen...
Those how-tos make me happy. Dag nabbit, I have too many projects to be working on to start another one. Thank god I don't have any blades without scabbards right now, or I'd be off to the hardware store already...

Re: What's an untrained ranger to do?
My Fiance's brother's a tow truck driver, so he gets all kinds of random junk from totaled cars that never get picked up, etc. He inherited a 90-lb Everlast heavy bag about 6 months ago, but no longer has anywhere to hang it, so since I've got a new place, I'm hanging it off the corner of my little ...

Re: Grey wool Cloak?
I did the same, though my grey cloak is rectangular, so it only used one blanket for the body plus scraps from another for the hood, but the result is the same: cheapest wool cloak possible, from an Army Surplus store wool blanket. And, if I'm feeling patriotic, it says "U.S." in blocky bl...

Re: Some ideas for pack items
Cool link, Ken! And I agree...Frothgar's gone into enough detail on his kit items to rival Andy's collection of information/research. As for that page, nobody's posted on it since 2005, but I posted a comment anyway, with a link to our forum, in case anyone's curious. I think I'm gonna go out on a l...

Re: M.E.R.F. Gallery albums
I set up Dave's account a few days ago, so today I logged onto it since he hasn't set his own password for it apart from the one I gave him, and he doesn't have an "add album" button, nor does it appear that he can add photos to the existing one. Uhhhh...Jack? I'm in over my head! Dave, ca...
