Re: New Contest- Short Story

This is gonna be fun...I already have music I've been planning to set a poem to...does it have to be sung, or can I have spoken word over music?

Re: Nazgûl vs. Fire

Because the story would be over too quickly (see thread "How the Lord of the Rings should have ended.") I don't have any other explanation, save that during most encounters with them, they were unexpected foes, and few had torches/fired on hand to make incendiary arrows in a few seconds' t...

Re: Cloaks

As far as pre-made cloaks go, on ebay and such, $45 isn't bad at all, and none of them are made from oilcloth. That being said, that's $45 for a cloak with no lining/only 1 layer. Still not a bad deal. However, it can't be any color you want, and in my territory, spanish brown would stick out like a...

Re: Took a wee walk the other day... [pic-heavy]

Yeah, it's a fairly long stretch from the lake mouth. About 3 miles round trip on my route as the bird flies.

Re: Took a wee walk the other day... [pic-heavy]

Like David said, central Northern California tends to die for a large chunk of the year. However, we have the sierras to the east, ocean to the west, and the redwoods to the north, providing greenery year 'round in Rangery places, thank God, and the Sierras are some of the most gorgeous country in t...

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

I'd agree, but take a look at the photos of the area I'm in, and then look at the jacket again. Not natural at all. It's just too in-your-face to work as a neutral tone for camouflage purposes.

Re: Took a wee walk the other day... [pic-heavy]

Shadow's the most ranger-perfect dog I've ever seen. He is terrible on a leash, but he goes wherever I ask him to without complaint. Even though he's a border collie, and bred for herding, he actually sniffs out pheasants, geese, and rabbits (when I get my hawk this year, he's going to be invaluable...

Took a wee walk the other day... [pic-heavy]

...while up at the lake this last week, and finally took some photos of my area. This is the same pope canyon that David and I spent a night in several weeks ago over Christmas Break, and the same one I'm mapping (see thread "Cartography"). I brought along the pooch for a night up at the l...

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

Alrighty, update time. It's high time we got back to business on this, eh? Here's my jacket sans everything I didn't want. The lining is gone, the collar is gone, the sleeves are gone, and the front pockets are gone. In the first photo, about 2/3 of the way down the jacket, you can see some faint sq...

Re: Whats your program for ranger fitness?

I've been starting a "new" fitness program lately. With my new work location up at the Lake, I have a lot of steep hiking territory at my disposal 3 days a week (pics coming soon!) and, as of today, I'm heading over to a local park to start using their "fitness trail", because, d...

Here's the most recent archived version of Andy's site, which is NOT the most recent update he made. This one is Circa 2007-08, and it requires a bit of fenagling to get around, as a lot of his links were pictures, which are no longer visible. Click on empty boxes until you find something that moves...
