Re: Ranger Fitness?
It would seem I've been practicing parkour without even knowing it.....Set work out routines are boring....getting out there running, climbing, jumping, crawling etc. is alot more fun burns more fat and builds more useful muscles and reflexes.

Re: Full Metal Jousting
I'm mighty complimented, Mr. Davis, thank you sir. My opinion is that my video wasnt as charismatic as they wanted. I think the blow-hard braggart persona makes better television. I'm not that type I spoke to the camera in a blunt realistic fashion knowing damn well any brag I made would come back t...

Re: Tracking
Knowing your area is critical, tracking is more than just cutting sign, from a warriors perspective you could be tracking yourself into an ambush. Once you know your area and learn where the water, jack pots, vantage points etc. you can trail wide of the sign to either move ahead of your game or pus...

Re: Florentine Axe and Hammer Project
Oh well...beyond my ability. Not quite If I were doing this, and later on, I might. :) I would anneal the head grind to shape and then harden the edge, leaving the rest dead soft. A half ass pit forge, which you could fill back in on top of the axe head once it got to temp to let the steel cool slo...

Re: Florentine Axe and Hammer Project
I love both these weapons!! You did an excellent job ressurecting that axe into two very worthy weapons, indeed! Two things I absolutely adore in weaponry, are large swords and skull splitters. Excellent work, I raise my horn to your craft, sir! Ironic though it may seem considering my tag line, eit...

Re: Armors
Thank you. 8) Like yourself thats one of the things I like about film and literary fantasy, the ability to explore the different options without being bound to authenticity regs, which even though we are both hardcore medievalists and martialists does get boresome after a while. And its also a good ...

Re: Armors
There is a big difference between an assumption= possibly. and an interpetation based on sources= probably. Many hardcore living historians scorn artistic and literary evidence, preferring the archeological record, thats fine. However, lets look at my ancestral homeland of Denmark, if I went strictl...

Re: Scenario: Winter, 3 things.
As long as the scenario does not call for injury or other handicap I would wrap up in the presumably canvas? of what was left of the shelter....It wasnt specified if this was a lean to, a shack, or tent...But I would scavenge what ever wind breaks I could as well as foot wear, then hoof it ...Its ea...

Re: Armors
" Dangerous things, assumptions." Damn right, and the "historical arms and armour Community" is full of them. Leather and textile armour is one of those areas where assumptions abound. It spills the banks of common sense to see effigies of knights wearing cuir boille and to then ...

Re: Scenario: Desert, 3 things
Three things of my choice? They are good natured indeed, so I would not abuse their generosity... I would just take a skin of water and a camel :P Weaponry, I would already have, clothing I would already have, as well as provisions, a bite and a drop ....The extra water would be for the camel :mrgre...

Re: Decent stainless hauberk for less than $1,000
Well you know what they say... when one door closes, dont despair... burn the damn house down. So I think I'm going to try welding a hauberk on my own. The ring lord sells stainless wire and I have access to welding equipment....So its settled. thanks for the replies.

Yes there is, a good weld is stronger than a great rivet.
