Re: Need advice ASAP

For only $150 though for a sword which has ceased to be made which was normally 400-500$ would it be worth it even with this slight twist. I might or might not be using it to cut, like I said it's one for the kit so it must be functional and look the part. Darksword has quality 400-500$ blades as my...

Need advice ASAP

There is a steal of a deal on a Dark sword Armory Migration Era Viking sword for about 300-400 under it's normal price. The only snag is that it has a slight twist in the blade at the top. I am wondering if this would pose any major problems. The twist isn't extremely severe at least it doesn't look...

Re: New Shield build

Well it's finally completed. I was going to put markings of Rohan but decided a two tone green would be better for woodlands and green is the color of Rohan so I can be identified as friend on the battlefield if ever on a larger offensive. The canvas is overlapped on the back/edges and a single fron...

Re: An interesting find

I was watching ancient discoveries (an awesome show) and they tested it against a period crossbow and it stopped it. It really just involves folding and coating thick paper squares with resin then sewing them together with linen thread. If I can find the right paper I'm going to attempt this to make...

An interesting find

Now I can't seem to find the clip from the show I was watching a few days ago but it was a armor design from china. It is made of paper and various glues and resins resulting in a cheap, effective and light weight armor. I think we as rangers could adapt this design to make a very deadly combination...

Re: Fableblades just put out a new Heronmark sword

Stop this madness. It makes me want to have one made.... which I can't afford. I had to delete the bookmark to keep myself from getting any ideas

Re: New Shield build

It is a viking styled shield I bought a medium boss from the site linked. Nails are easy enough for me. The reason for size and thickness is that is what was laying around at the time. It actually isn't that heavy for it's thickness it weighs less or equal to my Ar15 which weighs less than ten pound...

New Shield build

Well ever since my change in kit I figured I might need a shield. It is currently halfway built (sorry about no pics I'll try to gets some) I'm basically waiting on the boss and period iron nails from the uk which could take a bit. Specs 3/4" thick 24" diameter Covered in heavy rot resista...

Re: Need some help

When funds come in I'll be buying some good quality wool and period thread. I think I'll use the 1920's sewing machine as it depends on how fast my feet move and is liable to be the closest thing to hand sewed next to actually hand sewing. But as of this winter everything kit wise is being put on ho...

Re: Greetings

You have perked my interest I thought of doing an elven kit but it's a bit complicated and expensive for what I wanted so I'm going for a more Rhovanhirim look.

Re: Need some help

Well it's either spend 40 on wool and materials or $109 for these http://historicenterprises.com/mens-c-99/dark-ages-clothing-c-99_190/trousers-thorsbjerg-mose-c-500-made-to-order-p-1256.html I thought about it for a bit and I am debating whether to attempt my own and possibly mess up and end up spe...

Re: Need some help

Unfortunately we have no surplus stores near us and green blankets of that type would be almost rare around here as my dad has bought up nearly every wool military blanket and would kick me out at the very thought of cutting up one of his blankets. That black one actually would make a good blanket f...

Need some help

Ok well the tunic and pants I ordered are not to my needs and liking so I returned them and now I am stuck with a small problem. I need to some preferably wool pants and a tunic. I could make the pants as I have a larger blackish wool blanket and access to industrial sewing machines or a simple foot...

Re: Medieval "Pants"

That link to Historic Enterprises is well appreciated I have never seen them before but it looks like they have some very good stuff. I did order a pair or medieval styled pants though they are cotton. I also have a tunic underway and hopefully they will be here before winter so I can take a picture...

Re: Medieval "Pants"

Found this on google search as well and the GDFB wool pants are on KOA but they've got nothing small enough for my small 28" waist. So does anyone have any sites that might have wool pants for us thin folk.
