Re: Time for another "Mathom giveaway"

Thanks all! I just want to say that this is a wonderful tradition. I might have to take some inspiration from this on my next bday.

Re: Sword Rust

Depending on how deep the rust is, Ive always started with a 400 grit sandpaper and metal cleaner of some kind(I use a brand called blue magic) and then worked my way up to a 1200 grit sandpaper. After that I hit it with some oil and a piece of scotch brite or hit it with a drill mounted buffing whe...

Re: Scenario - April 2014

My kit and gear would be what you see in my pictures. Longsword, dirk, and hawk for hand weapons. My pack and quiver with my short bow all worn over my cloak. I inform the tavern keeper of my business and of my suspicions of the suspect. Not wanting blood shed in public and also not trusting a poten...

Re: Pics of my weapons and pack

So I think it just got swallowed up by the post in general, but I was wondering if I could pester you again for more info on the bows? Lol, sorry about that. The bows are both made by my father who has been a traditional bow maker for over 30 years. My pack bow is pretty much a mini longbow in styl...

Re: Pics of my weapons and pack

If we all ever got today for a picture, the rest of us would look like dwarves and hobbits (6'8" wow). He's obviously one of the Dunedain. I thought I was tall at 6'3"... Brett, love those bows, and that Lundemo. I take it that it was inspired by Boorman's Excalibur? Hey Aragorn was...

Re: Pictures of my full outfit.

That is one great impression! I am inspired. Do you happen to remember the Etsy shop that you got the tunic from? Wulfar, here is a link to the Etsy merchant I bought my tunic from. It is well made, very warm and well fitted. https://www.etsy.com/listing/159620662/medieval-woolen-xxl-viking-tunic-s...

Re: Pictures of my full outfit.

I always thought about walnut dying stuff, but I don't have the slightest clue on how. Something about boiling them and soaking the material in it but I'm not sure. Its the hulls you want off the walnut, not the shell or the nut. I gather all of mine from my father in laws property and spread them ...

Re: Pictures of my full outfit.

I like what you've done on all counts. One question, you appear to be right handed by belting your sword on the left hip, however your arrows are over your left shoulder indicating a left hand draw or is this just for the picture ? Once again I'm very impressed with all you've done. No I wear it th...
