I’ll second the use of a lap board. If you want something to give you nice spacing for cheap get a metal fork from a thrift store flatten it and file the prongs. It’s what I use and I love it and it looks really nice.

I haven't gotten to making a new sword hanger yet but I did manage to give this sword a new handle and I must say that it feels so much better in the hand. Thank you for that suggestion.

Vambrace question
I've received my first leatherwork commission and I have a question on vambraces. More to the point how thick of leather to use? His renfest garb is more lord than ranger would a sturdy but more flexible leather work good or a more stiff leather? Any help would be nice. Thank you

A great source for tinder in the wild at least is inner tree bark. Once it's dry it takes a spark nicely I try to make sure I have a stash of it in my fire kit
