Re: Need feedback on idea of a 'Middle-Earth inn'
If you started a medieval themed village, I know where I'd moving to when I move out! I'll load up my "futuristic and mechanical steel wagon" and be on my way

Re: Discount Arrows
Thanks for the links replies folks. I like that customizable website and $70 is still good for a dozen. Upon my creation, I noticed that there are "Other" options in a few categories so I figured I would just include a note for self nocks. Now I need to gather some funds   PS I'm...

Discount Arrows
Does anyone have links to arrows by the dozen for around $50? I used to have one on eBay but I deleted it by mistake.
I like self nocks, and black fletches. If possible, maybe dark shafting but not necessary.

Re: Surcote/Surcoat Shenanigans
I saved this for future reference. draft_and_sew_a_surcotte.pdf I have used Mediaeval Miscellanea's Period Patterns for several projects and do not recommend using these. The fit and sizing is always off. The pattern and documentation looks great, but they are hard to follow and trace. I love this ...

Re: Larger tarp shelters
I have an old military pup tent now that I carry. I don't think its that heavy and it rolls up nicely with all the stakes and the two poles in it. If push came to shove, it comes in two parts so if I have a second ranger with me, we can share the load, as Samwise once said.

Re: question on bows
I got a question, though. Many of these "longbows" that are sold, have a 29" draw, and come with the proviso to not draw the bow past 29". For someone like me, at 6' 2", this does not come to an anchor point. So that's not really what is traditionally called a longbow. It c...

Re: question on bows
My hickory longbow is made by Rudder bows and I love it. It has a riser cut into it so it doesn't have that sexy look of a real bow lol, but it shoots very nicely. It doesn't have the worlds best grip but I'm gonna get a leather wrapping to put around it.Rifter wrote:That rudder is a nice item too

Re: Shadow of Mordor video game commercial
Agreed, I find the format of the game for PS3 choppy and stagnant, features such as marking Uraks and sending them to cause trouble in their camps are not supported in this system which is sad but I really love the fighting style Tallion uses and the flips and counters. THAT'S what a ranger fights ...

Leather Boot Spats
I've been looking all over places but I must not know any good ones because I can only find the fake suede costume ones. Can someone point me in the right direction for real leather boot spats?
NOTE: I found something called Half chaps, are these the same kind of thing?

Re: Glove, Tab, String Covers, Nothing
wow this really blew up! I really did not think that the ancient ones (lol) had gloves, that's news to me. I probably won't get another glove but if push comes to shove, I'm sure I could fashion one.

Glove, Tab, String Covers, Nothing
I have been shooting with a glove since a started shooting. I tried a tab once and HATED it. My glove is nearly worn out and I want to try bare finger shooting. I've been using the "deep hook" technique you guys showed me before. What do you all use? I am never buying another tab, and I do...

Re: Heat Revealing "Ink"
I seem to recall older movies had the message accidently discovered when the good guys were trying to read aletter by candlelight and accidently overheated the parchment. Funny you should say that, the first time I tried it, I used a match and when the flame hit the wood, it got bigger and caught m...

Re: Heat Revealing "Ink"
I figured heat revealing ink would be perfect for rangers who need to receive their orders from dead drops and do so without anyone knowing. Cool things we can think about
