Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll
Elleth, your mention of props flashed a light bulb of memory for me, there's a website called the replica prop forum where they might have more images of things we would be interested in here, they make props from all kinds of shows and movies, and if memory serves there's a sub forum there dedicate...

Re: Boromir Bag/Toolroll
I believe this is also seen in one of the long shots as they're climbing up Caradhras heading to Moria, but I could be mistaken. It's been a while since I've seen the movies and I might be misremembering things.

Re: Musical Insturments
I play clarinet, it's the only instrument I've played with any regularity, and I haven't touched one in years, unfortunately.

Re: Pic sharing
I figured out how to resize things using MSPaint, I try to upload it first and if it's too big I resize it to half, and that worked for the few pictures I posted of that pouch I made.

Re: Orcrist: Clearing up a PJ-ism
I don't see it as a falchion style like it was in the movie, rather I see it as a companion to Glamdring in style and form. a long, possibly hand and a half blade that tapers to a narrow point, good for both cutting and thrusting.
Re: Finally!
it works surprisingly well, and if memory serves it was one of the many ways a pouch was closed, some of the others that I've seen in museums were a toggle sewn to the pouch body with a hole through the flap and a loop of cord wound around the toggle, at least that was the reconstruction any way. it...
Re: Finally!
I tried a saddle stitch for some things, and find it a little difficult without the stitching horse due to arthritis and all. and yes, Iodo I thread t he toggle through the square hole and then the loop.
Finally!
So I have finally finished one of the pouches that I cut from that oiled leather I bought last year. I'm pleased with the way it turned out considering that sewing is not something that I am accomplished at, it's a skill I have but not one that I practice regularly, rather like most of everything el...

Re: just finished a present
Manveruon, it's available on the website if the store doesn't have it. I'm sure they can get it in for you, it comes in multiple colors. I got it on sail, paid about 13USD for it, normally it's something closer to 25, but you get 100 yds of it, so that's pretty darn good. the wax is basically just w...

sadly, the only camera I currently have is on my phone and I have no idea how to post picture attachments on the site. however, I will make the attempt to get pictures and try to figure out how to do so in the morning.

Re: I Sit Beside The Fire And Think...
https://www.audacityteam.org/ this is the one I use, and I'm still figuring it out, it's not difficult, I just don't have enough hours in the day to do all the things that I would like and so it's gone on the back burner until I've gotten other projects done.

just finished a present
I just finished stitching together a late christmas present for my dad, a nice leather pouch for his meds so that they're easily available when he needs them instead of fumbling about in pockets for them. I used the rather nice hemp carriage thread and wax I got from tandy, it's well worth the money...

Re: I Sit Beside The Fire And Think...
there's a program called audacity that you can use to record, it's pretty feature packed, and it's free. I've used it to do some simple vocal tracks with no background or anything just for fun and for my fiancee so she can hear my voice on a regular basis, being as she's still in ireland and all.
