Possibly a larger version of a modern diver's knife with a flat chisel instead of a point, for prying with a broad heavy pommel for hammering rocks. The chisel point would be useful for digging gems, fungus, tubers and m...

When I gave the dimensions of the rolled up dropcloth I forgot to include that I keep a large wool blend blanket rolled up inside to keep the blanket dry, so the dimensions I quoted include the blanket.

Forgot - the easiest way to gather "bedding" debis is to toss the material in your opened dropcloth and drag it to your site(saves a lot of trips) just be careful if you're taking it over a lot of jagged rocks. YOu can always carry it over short distances.

The 1st pic is of the dropcloth unrolled (should have gotten one rolled up- it's about 7" in diameter and 26" long) take the dropcloth and lay it out so 1/4 of the cloth is on one side and 3/4 on the other http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn46/remlingp/bedroll1.jpg On the 1/4 side place ...

I'll try to get some pics tomarrow. They'll be taken in the backyard though.

I may not have enough leaves and boughs to fill it up, but you'll get the idea.

I used a canvas dropcloth originally 9x12 but I cut it down to about 7x12. It's wide enough to lay a layer down on the ground, put leaves, brush or pine boughes on it, fold a flap over to lay on with a blanket and still have enough to go completely over me with enough to spare that I can have a peak...

I recently picked up 3 of Tom Brown's books and I think they're quite educational. Much of it's not usable in a strictly Ranger persona but good knowledge to have. He does have a tendency to preach a little and I think to the wrong crowd, as the people interested in these works are not the type to k...

I'll post a copy tomarrow. This year's prize was a Valient /Atrim Practical single hander w/scabbard (sharp). I had Christian send it up to my brother Mike. He's the Knight pictured in the photo and has posed and taken some of the posed pics for the past two years. He's handled my swords and has a c...
