Re: New Lars Anderson Video
DasDaan's videos have been up for several years now. I've emailed with him a little bit. I consider his "speed shooting" to be actual martial in application...it is repeatably accurate, due to the consistent anchor, and repeatably effective against live targets, due to the full draw. Soli...

Re: Brisk Morning Outing
This is beyond awesome Greg! I use similar material for my ground cloth and the reduction in weight is life changing on long treks. Really like the color of the material as well.

Re: New Lars Anderson Video
Also side note: I don't want to give the impression that I speed shoot with the arrow on the right as my main preference of shooting, it is not. I do shoot that way frequently for versatility training purposes, but this is done with a smaller lighter bow. My main preference is for my warbow in which...

Re: New Lars Anderson Video
I agree with Greg in that the maille in question must be butted, there's no way an arrow from that bow would penetrate my riveted maille hauberk. Note that the shot of shooting the maille does not actually show him in reference to the armored dummy. There is a shot of him at the back of a room then...

Re: New Lars Anderson Video
I don't agree with his form at all. Or the fact that he's likely shooting a 30ish lbs bow like it's something special. The bit about quivers is not only bias but flat wrong. I'm not saying the guys not 90% bs or that what he does should represent what a combat archer or general archery lover should ...

Re: New Lars Anderson Video
Its situational for me. I shoot with my arrow on the right when I'm in combat mode so I can put as much steel on target as fast and accurate as possible. Additionally I will sometimes shoot with the arrow on the left when firing from over top cover as angling the stave becomes more necessary. I've b...

Re: A few pics from my last overnight.
Probably close to two miles from my car. After I set camp I ranged for the better part of the day over an area covering roughly 1,500 acres.Greg wrote:Great outing! Glad you got to escape for a bit. How much ground did you get to cover?

Re: A few pics from my last overnight.
It was actually your post in the hard kit forum that lead me to it (thank you btw). This was its first outing. I'd carried skillets in the past but they were always to much weight. This one however is perfect, not heavy and doesn't take up much space. Needless to say I think it has found a permanent...

New knife
Here's my new camp knife that I made to replace my old one. Its modeled on a Scottish sgain knife. Its hand forged from an old piece of stock I had lying around. The handle is antler with a brass spacer. Taking inspiration from one I saw online I engraved a rough thistle on the antler. It handles al...

Re: A few pics from my last overnight.
I brought my small 65 lb hunting bow with me instead of my warbow. As much as I love the warbow it just isnt efficient in the woods much of the time.
Enjoying my pipe and pondering where to go next.

Re: A few pics from my last overnight.
Home sweet home. The ground was to frozen to dig a proper fire pit so I had to content myself with removing as much undergrowth from the area as possible and of course keeping an ever watchful eye on the flame. I did end up propping up some rocks as heat reflectors later in the day. a few of my new ...

A few pics from my last overnight.
Hey all, thought Id share some photos of yesterdays camp.
Breakfast, bacon and oatmeal.
My new boots! Quite comfortable.
I was lucky enough to find a good log to shelter me. The night was fairly mild for mid January so I made no lean-to.
