Overnighter in Arkansas

I am looking at doing a period overnight scout here in Arkansas sometime in the beginning of June. It would be to a couple of waterfalls in the Ouichta mountains, in central Arkansas. I know most are pretty far away, but if anyone is in the area you are welcome to join in. I will post a date ASAP. h...

Authentic SCA event

I know that there are some here who are in the SCA and I though I would post here. On Labor Day weekend from Thursday through Monday there is going to be an Enchanted Ground event at the Roman fort here in Arkansas. All time periods covered by the SCA are welcome. We don't have an official web page ...

Re: Condor Moonshiner Knife

I have heard many good things about Condor products. I have always wanted their Hudson Bay Camp knife, it resembles Aragorn's Elven knife and I think it would fit in nicely.

Re: Source for Fingerless gloves

What about a tunnel stitch from the inside so that there won't any exposed stitch for the fletchings to cut?

Re: My kit

The hardest part is getting the measurements right, but it's not too bad. I messed up a bit and there is a patch of fabric in the back to extend the flap, but it's not noticeable with a tunic on. I measure a friend and made his pattern and his came out just fine.

The Marx-Etzel pattern. One of the things that I really like about it is that there is no central crotch seam to rip out.

My kit

OK, so this is my Iron age Celt kit, but it is also going to be the basis for my middle Earth Woodman kit. I will add a green sleeveless tunic over the long sleeve tunic. i will also have an axe and large knife as a back-up weapon. I have rectagular leg wraps for colder weather of brushy areas. I ha...

Re: Walking Stick

Nice walking stick. Their sticks also had an iron ring in them and the lanyard was attached to that. I've always wanted a stick like that,,tried to do it with a split brass ring but it just didn't seem to fit right.

Would have been cool to get together, but I totally understand the circumstances. Hopefully we can do a trek someday.

Nice work, I like the portmanteau. Now you need to get some neetsfoot oil and oil the heck out of all that veg tan leather. You said that you went to Springfield Leather, are you in Missouri? I'm in Arkansas.
Is you knife backwards in it's sheath?

The wooden sheath leaves a lot of room for customization.
