Oh, those are fun!
... the terrain indicators look true and detailed enough they're still useful for navigation, at least on a coarse / "reminder" basis - have you found that to be true?

Re: Any New Ranger Gear this Morning?
Hunh - I've been wondering about that tunic Kortoso. The collar construction looks fascinating.
Do you happen to recall if the collar is sewn to the body, or if it's all of a piece with the center panel? (If the latter, it's a really clever bit of tailoring!)

Thoughts on harps of the Dunedain?
It's almost time for a new harp I think. :) My Queen Mary has a crack in the arch that we'll repair someday, but for the time being it's not in the cards. Moreover, my fella doesn't like the ringing sound of wire strung harps but likes my old nylon-strung beast from school. And I would like somethin...

Re: Prepper vs Ranger
Once upon a time I heard an army guy explain why they still trained with bayonets in the age of laser-guided everything. It was an attitude thing he said - they wanted to make the kind of people that were able and willing to run into a fight with a sharp stick. I think our Rangery skills are probabl...

Oh! That's clever. I might have to pin mine that way as an experiment. Thank you!
Caedmon - you've lots of great pattern drawings. Have you ever complied them into a single place, or even a PDF? They'd make a great resource!

Re: Copyright and the Professor
Ha! What a coincidence! I was cleaning out extra stuff from my Dad's place today and ran across that very notice on my Mom's old copy! How funny!

Re: Cloak hoods .. how did you sew yours?
Thank you all! Hrmm.. I'll probably sew it bigger and chop it down if I get sick of it. I think light rain and bright sun are more likely to be concerns than a gale. Or a helmet I guess. :) Caedmon - that is exactly the kind of information I was looking for! The pleating sounds interesting! Regardin...

Re: A Quandary Over Buckles
For what it's worth, resizing a model in Shapeways is ridiculously easy - you don't even need to touch the model again. You just hit a "resize" button in the model admin screen. It does need to chug a bit, but it's a small task. He would need to know however the precise *outer* dimension a...

Cloak hoods .. how did you sew yours?
I've got the body of my cloak (finally) about ready to go, and I'm getting ready to tackle the hood. A few questions for those of you who've already done this part - 1. How close do you cut your hood to your head? The archetypeal full hood that shades the face, but can slip down over your eyes? Tigh...

2017 New Skill / Ranger Goal Challenge!
It’s almost 2017! First off, looking back at 2016 - I got a LOT of niggling little details done - purses and pouches and a nice knife sheath and need wallet and not a little digital work. I’m really happy with what I did get done this year, but the fact remains I’m still walking the woods in m...

Re: Happy New Year: 2016 New Skill Challenge- anyone wanna play?
Okay! the year is up, time to review.. WMA / NMA: Make at least six "real" arrows from shaft and feather, horn, hide glue, thread, point and pitch (I've never done anything besides mounting points on existing arrows with 3Rivers glue). Learn to get those new arrows in a basketball sized ar...

Re: Any New Ranger Gear this Morning?
Oh yes! Well also for the most part not ranger-y per se, but some wonderful Middle Earth goodness! Let's see.. the WETA rendition of Thorin's map, a nice encyclopedia of all those names and places I forget and - ooh ooh! - the best spoken-word rendition of the Silmarillion I've ever heard. Martin Sh...

Re: A Quandary Over Buckles
Oh excellent! Someone (of course) already made one! It wasn't there the last time I looked, but I'm glad it's there now. Means I don't have to do it.
(I think the original is a somewhat more complex shape, but that one should more than pass muster )
