Re: MRL Deal of the day

Apparently you have to get two pair. Still not sure how they work: http://www.museumreplicas.com/p-383-dueling-pants.aspx Very Hobbity to my eye. These, a nice vest and some merkinstocks and you're in business. As to the latter, I keep looking for cheap knockoffs of those 'toe shoes' I've seen. Pai...

Re: Night out using my emberverse ranger kit

Great stuff. As to padding/warmth for sleeping, although they take up a bit of room, to me, there's nothing like a sheepskin to add a bit of both. I've noticed that if I have just the trunk of my body on a sheepskin, it keeps my core body temp going well (although I am a mutant- literally. My matern...

Re: Job Description

Not sure if this is in the right place but what are the general duties of a ranger? Sadly we cant go about hunting orcs in Mirkwood, killing evil men in Angmar, or defending Osgiliath from invaders, so what do we do in our modernized prison? LARP and Ren faires have their limits as well especially ...

So are we a 'go' for production? I've got money waiting, just want to know where I send it.

Re: Ranger Duster?

So this is something I've been thinking about for a while, so I thought I would ask you guys. In FOTR, Strider wears a long leather coat sometimes referred to as a "duster" (shows up throughout, but maybe more prominent in FOTR). Reference pics here: http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Hu...

Re: Dunedain Lembas Bread Experiment

....There's always a chia joke.... (my mom says the reason my hair is so think is because I eat chia  ) Well, I took my waybread out on a camping trip - it was quite popular, everyone who tried it said they thought it was really good. The consistency probably could have been better; I cooked ...

Re: Idle musing

A lifelong dream of mine has been to hike the entire Appalachian Trail...a through hike. I have done segments of it in nearly every state it passes through, even a few overnights here and there, but never a through hike. With my youngest nearing adulthood and a change in life patterns coming in the...

Re: Dunedain Lembas Bread Experiment

Well, I'm finally getting the chance to try this again... Here's my Dunedain Lembas v. 1.1 1 Cup Chia (ground) 1 Cup Bread Flour 1 Cup Honey 2/3 Cup Flax Flour (this was an accident, I meant to keep it at 1/2) 1/2 Cup Almonds 1/2 Cup Pecans (in place of walnuts, which i couldn't find today) 1/4 Cup...

Re: Ranger fan film

That is well done. The throwing of the sword to decide direction is rather weird. Other things, details mostly. Bearded Elves, decidedly non-Elvish housing, etc. Minor stuff. I would say it is inspired by Beren and Luthien, rather than a rendition of it, however loosely. Still, it is a well done pi...

I'm not sure if others on this forum are aware of this fan film, which is loosely the Luthien and Beren story, call "Ranger."

Re: Desolation of Smaug Trailer

Just like the first installment, this one looks to be a whacking good movie..... But... It still isn't really 'The Hobbit'. It is one mans' idea of what 'The Hobbit' should have been. That does not detract from the quality of the film in any way. "The Goblins are upon you! Bolg of the North is...

Re: Desolation of Smaug Trailer

Hi all, In case you haven't seen it: http://www.thehobbit.com/index.html Thoughts? I think casting Luke Evans as Bard is a miscast. To me, he looks like Orlando Bloom. Any thoughts on Tauriel? Does this film need more characters? Ken I agree about the miscasting of Bard. He just doesn't look right....
