Thanks all! I've actually made several of these over the years, all hand stitched, and they just keep getting better.

I realized I don't have a volume measuring device in my pantry, so I eyeballed it and was pleased to find that it holds a 750ml bottle of wine at about 2/3 full. I'll have to get an exact measurement at some point, but I'm confident it's a full liter.

I'm awful when it comes to 'in progress' pictures. I get too caught up in my projects. That said, this one isn't quite done. I still need to add the strap.

I'm with RikJohnson on this one. Using natural rope for binding a pack roll and various other things is great, and I love the aesthetic, but I won't go out in the wild without something I know can carry my weight in an emergency.

Agreed. As much as I am a fan of asking forgiveness instead of permission, with these kind of issues it's best to be up front with the local Rangers. Most figure that if you were going to be poaching, you wouldn't bother giving them a heads up.
