Re: Ranger oaths and other items of interest
I hate to revive a post long dead, but I think that this has real potential. I just wanted to raise an idea about the oath in specifics. Below I am copying the Oath of Fealty that Meera and Jojen Reed swore to Brandon Stark in the Song of Ice and Fire series. I know it's not Tolkien, but I love this...

Re: Gary Chynne on Youtube
Gary is great! He's based in Toronto and his shop is where most of our Ranger Company get our archery equipment. Whenever we go to the city range he's almost always off in the woods to the side of the range shooting at woodland targets he put there himself. He's a fun guy to talk to, but once you ge...

Re: 3rd Age longsword scabbard
Great looking sword and scabbard Ursus! I really like how you added the by-knife to it, and I think it looks perfect the way it is! Also that's a great trick using the alcohol rags witht he leather dye, going to have to borrow that one!

Re: How do you clean your messkit on the Trail?
There is a really neat trick to cleaning greasy dishes. If you have a greasy bowl or what not, all you have to do is take some of the wood ash from the fire and toss it into the bowl. As you rub the wood ash around the vessel, just as if you were washing it normally, the wood ash reacts with the fat...

Re: Son of Mirkwood
Hi Greg! Sorry I've been AWOL and haven't responded to this post yet. I've been on a french immersion course and so haven't had a chance to revisit this subject. Here's a bit of a response outlining my reasoning behind choosing a "half-elf" persona. the last two sections are done in point ...

I haven't read this full thread yet...
But a note on the mention of hedgehog: I recently saw an Irish program where hedgehog was on the menu, but here hedgehog actually referred to a mushroom of the same name (Hydnum repandum). Just thought I'd throw that out there!

Son of Mirkwood
Hi everyone, Here is a short little back story/intro for Ruinar. I wrote this a while ago so forgive me if it is a little rough, the intention was just to get information down on "paper". I have since began writing this as a work of fiction, which I will probably post later on in Chapters ...

Hail Rangers!
Hail and Mae Govannen fellow Rangers! My name is Rory, here under my persona Ruinar Hrafnakveðja. Ruinar is the Sindarin translation of my name and Hrafnakveðja is Old Norse for Raven Caller, though I go by many names. I'm a young Ranger hailing from Toronto, Canada. I'm a member of a Medieval/Tol...
