About Elvish Culture

Mae Govannen mellon. Once more, I have been absent for an extended period of time. Work, school and other obligations have dominated my time. It's been a while since I've had a good LOTR discussion, so let's start one here! I am currently researching some things about Angarth's early life. Elves pla...

Reading Beowulf

Okay so, school and work are keeping me pretty busy lately. In my Literature class, were reading Beowulf and answering questions as we go along. For those who don't know, late in life Beowulf has to fight a gold-hoarding dragon. The question was, "how did the dragon get the golf?". One of ...

Re: Home made forge question

Getting a permanent set-up in a rental property or a highly populated area can be troublesome. I hope you can both find a solution and be able to forge more often. It's a LOT of fun and a great stress reliever.

Re: Looking for a Middle-earth Appropriate Penannular Brooch

I don't do custom work any more. I know my personality, and it's much more important for me to get something right than to get it finished. And for some weird reason, most people do not appreciate 2+ year turn-arounds. ( Personally I don't get it. ) That said, this got me thinking. This is ...

Re: Any plans?

Elyon cooked a recipe of pork chops over the fire. We had potatoes roasted in the fire with zucchini and squash. It was one of the best meals we've had all year.

Sounds like a great trip! I need to get to more parks.

Re: Any plans?

My sons just finished their soccer games, so we're headed out to the Dragons Wood Inn for tonight and tomorrow. We've had some great fall weather (clear, dry, and cool) and will definitely have a fire tonight. Likely go for a hike tomorrow, with at least cloaks if not in more gear. Sounds like a lo...

Re: Any plans?

We have a cold front pushing through that is generating some wind. This could threaten our plans for a fire. I will see how bad the winds are and make a judgement call from there. With everything on the west coast already burning, I certainly don't want to be the one who starts it up in the east. Bu...

Any plans?

Okay, okay. I know many people aren't moving around yet with the Covid-19 thing still going on. But bear with me. I'm dying to hit the woods but that's not a good idea right now. My daughter, Ruinferil, took an Orc blade to the side last Wednesday (Okay, she had her appendix removed), so no camping ...

Re: Rangers report!

It's OK because I still live with my parents so I'm not stuck without money, and both of them have jobs they can do from home, it's just driving me a bit mad because I have to offer constant computer technical support to both of them LOL Sounds like my poor kids. They are my tech support group.

Re: Rangers report!

It's reached day 15 of the lock-down here in the UK, the factory where I work locked it's doors 10 days ago (the ironic thing is we have enough chemical plant to have started making hand sanitizer but the trade unions forced us to close) and I haven't been allowed further than walking distance from...

Elvish names again

So once again, I must admit that my knowledge of the Elvish languages is lacking. I am working on some new things, new translations for the Bard's stage if you will. I need the help of our Elvish scholars. There are two names I am trying to translate. The pixellated Feanor site - or what I get when ...

Re: Rangers report!

While I'm still not as active as I once was, in my long absence, I think I came to some conclusions. Rangers had rough lives sometimes. They fought to survive. I'm sure many were cut down in the wilds defending people who were unaware of their sacrifices. They probably fought famine and disease in t...

Rangers report!

Hail and well met! I hope each of you are well. I know many are in quarantine but my wife and I are considered essential.... okay. I'm just glad to still be working. Just curious: what is everyone up to these days in isolation? I am working on my first full length sword as well as the blade I starte...
