Re: Morgul Blade.

In the reference above, it says that the edge was notched and the tip broken. Two thoughts come to mind. 1) Is the edge notched because of old battle damage? 2) Is the edge notched as a design feature to ensure that the tip would break off in the Nasgul's prey? I don't believe that the Morgul blade ...

Morgul Blade.

Mmkay, here we go. I finished one of my very overdue commissions today and I want to start work on a long-term project that I've played around with in my mind for a while. I want to try my hand at creating what I see in my own mind when I think of some of the weapons in LOTR. About the first blade t...

Re: Tightening a peened pommel

Sometimes, peening a tang can take quite a while. It's a slow process when starting a new peen. I always miss the tang a few times and have to refinish the pommel. Not fun. But yeah, a ball peened hammer works really well for this. Glad it worked out for you.

What are we doing?

Greetings fellow rangers! I'm interested to know if anyone has any ranger-related projects going on. At the moment I'm in the house listening to the rain and getting ready for lunch. I personally am working on two commission blades and yuletide gift exchange items. Elyon and I have started something...

Re: Finally an understanding and a name

Just a quick update on this. The Veteran's Benefit Administration denied my claim saying that I don't have PTSD but I do have non-service connected "Undefined Depressive Disorder." This is after a VA psychologist and a VA case worker have diagnosed me with PTSD. We have enlisted the help o...

Re: Monthly Ranger Training Logs, 2019

Hey, all. I originally found this forum searching around the internet in pursuit of a dream: To emulate the run of the 3 hunters, five and forty leagues ere the fourth day has ended--135 miles, on foot, in less than four days, over rough terrain, with passable Strider kit. I know the Orcs had a hea...

Re: Finally an understanding and a name

My thanks to each of you. Friday night I received a gut punch from the VA as they denied my claim, now denying that I have PTSD. Funny since two of their psychiatrists and my counselor have diagnosed it. So my fight continues. But it is comforting to know that each of you have my back.

Re: Finally an understanding and a name

Welcome back.. and it's good to hear you're on a road to recovery. I hope you've some nice quiet forest time in front of you as well. :) I am considering going to where we hold the spring ranger moot and spending the weekend camping alone for some time to pray, reflect, recover and recharge. Edit: ...

Re: Finally an understanding and a name

Welcome back, and thank you for sharing. Speaking without shame about our emotional challenges dispels stigma and makes those who struggle in silence feel less trapped and alone. I'm in therapy for my depression and anxiety and am considering medication to help me manage my turbulent moods. Stories...

Re: Finally an understanding and a name

Welcome Back! Warriors get wounded. Not all wounds are physical. I'm glad to hear that you are getting the help that you need. Look to your faith, that will help too. I have heard of disabled veterans being verbally attacked because they didn't "look" disabled to the attacker. Mmkay, when...

You're for sure not alone in the fight. Thank you for your support. PTSD and depression are like mental c...

Re: Finally an understanding and a name

Welcome Back Eric, you have been missed. We know you had some financial and personal set backs and were here waiting for you to get those in order. We knew you'd be back ! For those of you who don't know Eric, in addition to being a longtime member and contributor, he makes some mean cutlery. Many ...

Finally an understanding and a name

Hail and well met! I am the mythical other moderator. The one whose name is whispered among the old timers. The one the newcomers may have heard of but considers legend. I live!...I think. :? In all seriousness, things have been rough. I have gone through years of, well, I can't exactly describe it....

Not a bad start. The leather work is really nice too. My leather work could use some attention.
