Re: Bows.

Thanks for all the answers guys.

Greg - Thanks for all the advice. I'll have to look for those types of bows. I'm afraid that a Martin is a bit pricey for my budget. I'll have to research TradGang - that seems like a interesting site.

Re: Bows.

I have another question for you guys. What kind of wood is best? It seems we have multiple choices. Ash, hickory, bamboo, red oak... Plus you have all the different backings. What is best combination for a beginner's bow that he uses for target practice?

Re: Ranger Cloak Colour

Looking online, I found this interesting site with info about Lithuanium weaving patterns. The Ranger's Apprentice books talk about the cloak seeming to shimmer, and these oakleaf patterns seem to do just that! It's also interesting that "oakleaf" is one of the names, as Flanagan's Ranger...

Re: Bows.

Wow guys, I'm sorry if I started anything. I guess this is where I need to explain my experience with bows.. I know a reasonable amount but obviously not enough. I have always enjoyed archery but I have rarely gotten a chance to practice. I had earned the archery merit badge in Boy Scouts and that's...

Re: Bows.

I'm sorry, I should have said something about that. Yes, I do want to hunt with it, but I also want to get in some practice at the range with it.

Thanks,

Bows.

Hi everybody, I'm thinking about getting a bow from Rudderbows. They seem to relatively cheap, good quality, and they have really good reviews. So my question is, with all the choices, what's the best bow? I'm young and pretty strong, so I can handle a big bow and I prefer longbows anyway. Do ya'll ...

Re: The Sindarin Conversation Thread

Hi there,

How exactly does one go about learning this language? Is there a website or book? Where do I start?

Thanks,

Re: Several Cloak questions

Thanks for the help fellows. I like the idea of the watch cloak; I will have to try a variant of it. I was planning to use my cloak for both my Middle Earth Ranger outfit as well as my Ranger's Apprentice costume. Therefore, while I planning a full length cloak (‘cause a Ranger can't be seen, righ...

Several Cloak questions

Hey everybody, I have one cloak, it's dark green and rather heavy. I try not to use it in the the woods as it catches on things. So, I need to make a new one for Rangering. Thanks for all warm welcomes, guys!

@Ernildhir - No, I do not live in Texas. I was born there and really want to move back, but I can't.

Again, thanks for welcomes!

Yet another new guy thread.

Hail and Well Met! I have come from afar, seeking fellowship and fun. I'm the new guy, so let me tell you a little about myself. I've always been a fan of Lord of the Rings. When I was little, my mom used to read the "The Hobbit" to me before going to bed. Since then, I've read the Lord of...
