Re: HIstory Channel's Expedition Africa

I watched the first 2 episodes. Most of it was farily good. Can't stand the "Reality Show" aspect, where as soon as possible they all privately condemn everyone else. Too many Alpha personalities in the group.

On the subject of Renfairs- NY @Tuxedo is coming up

The NY State Renfair starts Aug 1 and continues through Sept 20 weekends and Labor Day. In the past several us from Sword Forum International (SFI) have met up and had a good time. I propose we set up a similar date (like our Southern companions) and any who can attend will meet up. I'm included the...

Re: Bows?

Great pics and an ingenius way of creating a shorter bow. How does it effect the draw length?

Very nice kit!

Re: Any Modern Boots That Kinda Fit The look?

I have something against moccasins being used for european reenactment purposes. The design didn't exist there as far as I know. As such, they never look quite right. See now while I agree with that as far as historical accuracy goes, yet we're not really recreating history as ME rangers, are we. I...

Re: Bows?

I just reread this entire thread and realizied I never posted pics of the quiverbag. I'm sure they are posted somewhere on this site but I'm reposting here so no one has to search for them. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn46/remlingp/018_182quiverbagC.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn46...

Re: Orc Weapons

My wife and the girls are up at Lake George and my wife's digital camera as well, so when they return I'll take some pics of the other odd weapons I made and post them here.

Re: Any Modern Boots That Kinda Fit The look?

They have been around for a good long time and a guy I knew from the SCA had bought a pair about 6 years before I met him. He worked at a print shop and wore them to work everyday. After 6 years they still looked great and held up well. The only reason I never bought a pair was the price tag.

Chivalry Sports Going out of Business

I just received an email that Chivalry Sports (not Chivalry Bookshelf) is going out of business and is offering 30% off all in-stock items. I went to the site but it's very slow (maybe a indicator of heavy activity). You might want to check it out for clothing and accessories. Their blade selection ...

Re: Strong Blade

Thanks a lot for the advice. I did not even think about the tang for the sword. I will have to see if I can find any reviews for the sword. Check Sword Buyers Guide for reviews on swords under $300. I believe they have done some for Stongblade Swords. I have handled at least one and wasn't impressed.

Re: Of Viking weaponry

Nice choice, Del Tin makes a fine product. I currently have 3 Del Tins and have had several more in the past. One of my brothers (Mike) has 2 also, a Viking and a hand and 1/2.

Re: Of Viking weaponry

There are a good many different types of swords described by Tolkein both regionally and through the ages. I'd pick blade and kit that suited me and the environs I'd be traveling in. Even if I wanted a suit of plate, it would of coarse. be out of place in a wooded area. Weapons would be a personal c...
