That sounds like a cool system, Andy. Sorry, sometimes we forget that others are hampered by inconveniences such as moving. I despize moving, but I'm actually looking forward to leaving the place we're in now.

Longsword is certainly on the list of things to learn. It would work well with my Tinkersword. Some time ago Tinker and I discussed whether it should be a two-hander or a hand-and-a-half. We settled on a two-hander. I'd love to learn to cut with it because I imagine it would be a mean cutter. If I c...

So Andy, I'm supposing you have to have help tying that on. I'm guessing it runs from the wrist to about the bend in the arm. It is maybe an inch to two inches below the bend where the string strikes my arm. I keep thinking of starting on it tonight, but after spending all day in the sun chasing kid...

Okay, what about one-handed swords/ sword and shield? I have my Clontarf and was wondering if there is a book that would be good for helping me to learn to use it. Also, I am finally going to start on that fantasy story I have threatened to start for some time and the typical fighting style will be ...

It would be great to see that pattern! I'm hoping to start very soon and maybe I can get it done before Friday.

After I wrote this up last night, I looked through the things that I have and noticed that some of my thick leather is too thin for the soles of my boots. I may take a piece of it and a piece of the softer stuff you sent me and line the thicker, less comfortable leather. I also plan to use the four ...

Arm guards/vambraces

Okay, as mentioned in another thread, I am going to get into the wilderness with my son next Friday, unless there is some sort of disaster. We are planning to take our bows along. My son doesn't need an arm guard for his modern little bow, but my bamboo bow is a different story. Last time I shot it,...

WELL, back to the topic of outings. I made the decision today that no matter what, my son and I are hitting the woods next Friday night and through the day Saturday. There's a field that needs guarding. Could be some nasties using the road, you never know. . I have a question that will maybe ...

Heh, you were in the forest longer than me! I can at least SEE the forest from where I am, but I can't seem to find the time to get out there. I'm just going to have to make the time. Andy, I'm with you there. I always loved travelling in what seemed to be nowhere, then coming across a village or sm...

Any Memorial Day weekend outings to post?

Well, like the title asks, did anybody get into the woods? I did yard work Saturday and worked Monday. For some reason, my company doesn't see the importance of taking a day to recognize the sacrifices of our military personel and their families. Well, I for one appreciate the job you brave o...

I'll try to get some up tomorrow. The hilt is somewhat like Glamdring while I believed at the time that the blade was more like Narsil. I liked the hilt of Glamdring but was not so fond of the leaf blade. On the other hand, I liked the blade of Narsil, but not the hilt so much. The pommel is a diffe...

Let's see: Albion Clontarf Tinkerswords cross between Glamdring and Narsil a bearded axe that I ground out of an old wood-cutting axehead fitted with a hickory handle that I cut down, drilled and decorated with leather lace. 40# 68" bamboo longbow In the works is a small sgian dubh forged from ...

Looking good Andy! That's a real orc-getter for sure. That reminds me that I have another wood-cutting ax out in my smithy that needs some work.

I'm hoping to go over the calf with the boots. Yeah, the fact that I didn't use a lining is what made me wonder about how it would affect the fit. BTW, what kind of glue are you using? I have Tanner's Bond Leather Weld. I am wondering if that is going to do the job or if I need to use something else...
