New Anti-Orc tactic seems to be working...

Ok, about 10 days ago I put in a few new techiques that better keep out the automated bots. After running it for nearly two weeks the system has kept out all non-real users, so I am now going to take the next step, and make self-registration automatic again. What this means is that legitimate new pe...

Andy I am working through i.33. I think sword & buckler is very good ranger combination as it was historically the choice of lightly armoured fighters. Being the preffered method for personal defense from the 12th-14th c. and also 14th c. military archers. Also the small size means that you can ...

Andy's Back

Hey, because of the massively large amount of bot subscribers, I have neglected looking at new user registrations for the last couple weeks.

Good news! Andy's back. Bad news, I t took me a while to confirm him.. Andy, Welcome in. Hope you're still looking.

You want Dunedain Culture? There's a movie coming out.

Low Budget fan film, but from the looks of the trailer, it's production values are amazing. It appears to be centered around Aragorn's parents.

Don't quite know, Haven't finished the inside, so I can't put any water in it. I think about 2 1/2 - 3 cups.

New Leather Bottle

Been meaning to post this for a while. Here are some pics of a bottle I put together back in December, but still haven't coated in Brewers Pitch. I'm rather proud of it, as I was able to actually force myself NOT to slavishly follow an extant historical model. http://ranger.budgetauthenticity.org/ga...

What's your preffered method of fighting for Rangers?

I know we covered this on the other list, but I figure it's still a good one to talk about.

My feeling is bow is the primary weapon, followed by spear, then sword. I am trying to learn i.33, so I'd probably try to fit that in...

Sleeping on the ground

Being in Alaska, at this time of year, the question takes on a bit of a different cast for me. My vote is a full caribou/reindeer hide, or better a sleeping bag from it. Caribou fur is apparently unique as it is hollow and retains heat without transferring it through the other side, ideal for sleepi...

Kit musings

Of late I have been watching Upstairs Downstairs, a BBC series from the 70's that chronicles British life from 1904ish to 1929. I was flabbergasted when I started to do the numbers and found that with salary, room , & board of a married couple (both working) in the show was only making the equiv...
